Hello Tavo! I have a question about your bike...

It looks like the sidecovers are from a later DOHC Honda - probably a '79 or '80 CB750 or CB900 supersport.

Did you have to do any modifications to make the mounting holes line up??

I've wanted to graft the tank and sidecovers from a DOHC bike on my '79 650 for a while now, but could never find whether the mounts would line up... But your bike makes it look like they will. Can you give me some more info???

Hi bro!
I wouldn't be able to say that precisely The side covers were in pieces when I bought the bike, and I actually had to glue to them together, and use some fiber to fix it (you can actually see a screw in the bottom so it holds properly). I'll do say something: it did seemed like the mounts were aligned with what was left on the piece.

Sorry I cant be of any more help :s

If anyone wants a great 1981 650C mine is for sale.  Just put new gaskets including head gasket.  Owned it for 4 years and have replaced or rebuilt everything.  Tough mechanicals done by a pro.  K&N looks great and ridden to work when its warm.  I have a second 550 and my storage area is too small for 2 bikes.  $1200 firm.

1981 Custom. The photos were taken the day I rescued it. Currently scattered over my garage being restored to all stock configuration except for the stainless brake lines. Will post more pics when it is finished. Luckily the job is 95% elbow grease although I did rebuild the master cylinder and calipers. The 400 Hawk is my last rescue attempt.

Any of you folks have any spare mount bolts, that mount the rear of the grab rail and rear of the seat, to the frame? If you aren't sure of what I am referring to, they look like slightly longer than usual nuts, with a hole on one end, that is tapped and a stud on the other end, that also had threads cut on it. It screws into the frame, mounting the seat and then a bolt  (or correct term is a "Cap Screw") screws into that piece, to mount the rear of the grab rail. Anyway, I need a pair of them and I have seen them on ebay, but only with other hardware as well and between the cost of the hardware and shipping, price can get up around $40 or so. Appreciate any input here. Need to properly put the seat AND grab rail on my Wife's '80 CB650C.  ;) Bill

Well folks, I have sold my 1980 CB650C, along with parts that I had, to fix it up. Time flies, I'm getting older, I feel like I need to use a little sense and cut back to lighter motorcycles Plus I have other places that I need to spend the money (just got through having to get our central heat & air repair and I have other things I need to address. Great to see that there is still quite a list of folks with the old 650s, to fill the void.  ;)

I have enjoyed being a part of the CB650 group and appreciate your comments. I am getting on up in age (71) and have so many irons in the fire, that I am getting myself to cut back some. As for the guy who bought my 650, I don't even remember his name now. I DID tell him about the SOHC4 Group and told him that you all, with 650s, were a Wealth of Info and very outgoing & would be very glad to hear from him, whether to assist with info or to get to know him and share experiences or whatever. Very nice guy and he was looking forward to having some times, with the 650. Catch you all later on, Have a good one.  ;)

Was lucky enough to get my hands on a 1979 CB650 up here in juneau alaska. It runs (ran) before I took everything off and painted the frame and exhaust. Excited to try to put it back together and looking forward to accessing this wealth of information
