Good Luck Ron!  Rose and I got held up in Indianapolis so weren't able to hit the road out there.  Bummer.

Quick results: Phaedrus went 125.000 mph. 5+ mph headwind, tach was at 10,000 rpm in 5th, so we need another gear. Class record is 129.6.

Rick set new record in his class: mod chassis, no fairing,  Nor Asp, stock 600cc (Yam)  @ 151 mph.

Preston, Rick's son, set new record in his class, mod chassis, no fairing, Nor Aspi, stock 1000cc (R1) @ 171 mph.

I got sumburned to a crisp, and need to laydown. Details tonight or tomorrow.

Congratulations on a great first outing at the LSR!!! 125 is a great accomplishment for the first
attempt you guys have made... Is the increased displacement not considered for the class?  Hard to believe you are less than 5 mph off. Without the headwind you would be a couple mph faster! Not sure if it would be 5 mph because of the affects of drag and speed not exactly correlating as a 1-to-1 affect.

Sorry to hear you got a bad burn, I hope you are able to get some relief quickly. Don't hesitate tocheck with your doctor if it turns towards sun poisoning symptoms, they can prescribe some meds to help with that. Aloe will be a friend for the burn...pure stuff is much better than dilluted versions.

Look forward to hearing more when you are able to share.

Thanks. The class is "M/G-1000/4". Modified Frame/Modified Gas Engine (non-pushrod)-750 to 1000cc/ 4 stroke. I'm giving a little at 888cc. Of course you got to realize a lot of this record beating and hopping just depends on who and what decides to show up. Some classes are thin. There is a 1000cc pushrod record at over 130, for example.

Rick's experience with the wind there is such that if the headwind were a tailwind, we'd be there. It also depends on time of day. He ran Phaedrus in AM. He ran his bike in early afternoon, wind was calm and he got his new record by 2mph. (beat his old record).

Even with a headwind, a proper gear should get us over 130.

Wow, that's one hot 550! Wish I'd seen it, but there were a lot of machines there. Esp on Saturday. Here's his link. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,131656.msg1820234.html#msg1820234

The partial streamlining helped I'll bet. (I think Rocketman's bike has a fairing?)

There was a lot of really sweet sounding motors. It was nice that you could hear them one at a time, stretch it out for a mile with no other interference.

The air shifters and other quick shifters made a great sound.

Except mine. The only thing quieter than mine was a Mercedes SL500. Still managed 175+ mph. 20 yards off the start line and they were both silent.

There was a gull wing Merc there with a full hood scoop. Didn't catch the speed.

The fastest machine of the meet was a turbo Hayabusa at 230+ or so.

I bot one of those Singapore CafĂ© Racer seats with "750/Four"  stenciled on the sides. It just arrived. Looks pretty good. Don't know about the fitment yet, but looks promising. I'll try to get it on with a picture before we leave Thursday for the VJMC National Event at Spring Mill State Park, in IN.

Was hoping I'd get it in time for the Ohio Mile, but missed that.

Ron....looks good. If you put a "real" exhaust on there, dyno tune it and put real tall gearing you'd get a hell of a lot more MPH out of your bike. No disrespect intended about the exhaust....it does look pretty cool........just saying brother. ;) And.....once again.... thanks for helping Ed out......you're a good man.

Looks good Ron, you should go for it with a nice free flowing exhaust to exploit the motor work and maybe drop a more aggressive cam in her to coax more power out of her for the LSR runs and general riding.

Hope your boxing is going well and you and the Missus are doing well.  And I hope your buddy Bruce is doing well also...

Timing was on the Ts,  :o  advanced it to the Fs.
Was that the timing on the dyno runs? That might explain the lower than expected results at higher RPMs...

Yes, the timing was off at the Dyno run. It's now static timed on the Fs. And 2.5 larger main jets. I'll put a strobe on it before going back to the Dyno.

Understood. Since this is all fun and games at this point, I just want to see how well my first choices can do. It was supposed to have been my daily rider, trip bike, and I just want to see it at its best. I'm learning a bit along the way.

Then, this winter or next, we'll take it down and upgrade some parts.   :D

Sold the Burgman finally. Got what I wanted. Real smooth Craigslist deal. Buyer from Chicago. Drove 2 hours to Lafayette and I drove 1 hour, met at an iHop. HE invited us in for breakfast. Offered the cash before I asked.  I misplaced my camera until he was loaded and ready to leave. His uncle had a real cool trailer. The tail folds up onto the front of the table. Then you can stand it up on casters and roll it around the garage, tongue up. Low deck height. Nice tow vehicle.

Deposit to the treasury and free up space for next project. Yay!
