Polished up the temporary chainguard (picture in previous post). Looks pretty good, good enough for the Pagoda Show.  Revamped the Centerstand stop on the muffler bracket. Same as CG, not the finished prodcut but good enough for now. Rerouted the tach cable, hard with the steering damper in the way. Always wish I had put it (damper) on the left side. Lesson learned, anyone reading this.

Practiced unloading and loading. Can almost do it by myself, but I'll trust I can rustle up a spotter or 2, like at the VJMC meet.

Talked to the Indpls Motor Speedway rep. I'm on the early arrival list. I'll show up at 7, Friday AM, get unloaded, park the truck outside, and walk back in to the Pagoda. Not expectiing much, just a good time and conversation. Some good pictures.   :D

Indy sounds like fun Ron.  Bike's looking good.8)

I've always installed my damper(s) on the left.  Mainly because it allowed me to turn it up, or down (highway, city) without removing my hand from the throttle & brake.

I don't know how I missed that. I'd run the damper on the right side for decades. Force of habit?

I just went and looked. The factory boss on the lower triple tree is only on the right side. You must have had a forktube clamp on the left side?

Any way I did change my tank from a rt side petcock, to a left side, for the reasons you mention.

Just got an email from a VJMC member in Cinncy who is entering the Pagoda Show also. He's got a cherry CBX

Spent the weekend in COrydon IN for the MSTA (Ridemsta.com) River City Ride. I helped with the registrations and just talked to people I don't see so often, as I don't ride anymore. The modern Sport Touring equip is amazingly advanced compare to our old CBs. But still, everyone had their story of when they had one ( a CB) or still have one in a shed out back, and I passed the pictures around.

Yes, always required a tube clamp.  The right side factory boss was used for the non-adjustable dampers that came from the factory.

Works fine for my 7 click adjustable. Except for the occasional inconvenience.   :D

When is the show, Ron?
It starts Friday AM at 8A. Continues Saturday, Qualifications Day from 8-5, and finishes Sunday RaceDay 10 to 12A. Awards at 1P. Race starts at 2P.

Not all entries will get there Friday I suspect. But they have to be there Sunday. And once unloaded we're to leave them there overnight with IMS security.

I suspect a lot of spectators, much more than VJMC, which should be fun. The editors of the mags; CycleWorld, Motorcyclist, and Sport Rider will be the judges. The classes are by the decades; best of the 20s; best of the 30s; best of the 70s; etc.  The entries get to be photographed professionally at the base of the Pagoda, nice souvenir.

Sounds like it's well organised. I was at the MotoGP in Austin earlier this year, all they had was a Ducati show [not bad by any means, but would prefer vintage].

I was confused by the title of your thread that had the date of 8/3, was expecting to see show pics.

The movie I haven't seen, called "Why We Ride" is the primary sponsor and the 3 mags Cycle World, Motorcyclist and SportRider provide the manpower. ITs a trial on their part. LAst years show was one day and required the entries to ride 50 miles. MAny couldn't do it, so they decided to change it up this year.

My thread title is "Prep" for the show. Pics come after the show.   ;)

I intend to be there all day Fri, Sat (8-6) and Sun 8-2. I'll actually be there Sunday after 2, after the awards as they won't let us load till after the fans are gone and the main race starts at 2P and lasts till 3 or 4?  In for a penny, in for a pound.

If I'm not in the Pagoda Plaza itself with the bike, I'll be wandering around but not far as I don't travel well. Hoping to have a decent view from somewhere close to the Plaza. There is a big screen TV somewhere which could be good for me. The sounds alone will be thrilling.

Hope we connect. I'm bad at recognizing faces after time, so let me know. I'll have a black cap with red VJMC letters, and a cane.  :D

Dang, is there a SOHC4.Net hat? I need to get one.

Hey Ron...Thats cool.  I didn't realize you'd be there so early on Saturday.  I'll probably ride down around 9am or somewhere around then as the morning works way better for me.

Hopefully parking will be easier that early.  Can wait to see this beauty in person :)

Great.

ICYDK; You'd want lot 2, off Georgetown Road. Parking for ridden bikes is free. You would then walk thru the tunnel (after getting a ticket) which opens up right at the Pagoda inside the track. I don't know for sure, just working off the facility map. Bruce and I are going Thursday to scout the place out a little. It's only 7 miles from here and I hate surprises in the traffic.

Day 1 Pagoda Show went well. Trailer worked well, but like at other shows, help was plentiful.

Besides security snafu  (who said you could come in this gate, yadda yadda) set up was nice. Mine only CB750 so far. One CBX all original 3000 miles vs mine untold mileage, nothing original. See who the judges like.   :D    :D

Dem motogp bikes iz loud and fast!

Great hanging out with you today Ron!  Bike is tip top and was great to finally see in person :)  Was for sure turning some heads.

Before I forget, here's an example of the Allen Head caps that we were discussing...could go a long way for keeping water from collecting in the heads.

And just to prove that I was there ;)

Great to see you too!  Yeah we got a lot of attention.

Those caps are a little pricey cuz of 100 ct. But the per piece is OK. I'm sure I can find a lower quantity somewhere.

I didn't think of it but that row of bricks behind Phaedrus seems too coincidental. I think its an extension of the start finish line into the plaza?  Or a tease of the same? Anyway, the ambiance of that place is intoxicating.

Especially from the 8th floor of the Pagoda!   :D

Yeah...those are a bit pricey, but just used them as an example.  I'm sure there are cheaper solutions out there.

Probably nothing as big as these. But I'm looking for a smaller one to go to.

No shop time today, I'm pooped, from doing nothing, (little anyway). Had a great time, met new people. Watched people google eyes over Phaedrus. Didn't win anything but the judges were the mag editors and it was apparrent they had a point to push, they are editors after all.

So I'll write it all up in a seperate thread in the next few days. Then we'll plan our next shop time.

I did ride Phaedrus onto the trailer for the first time myself, rolling the mileage up to a whopping 3 or so. I did have 2 spotters just in case but they weren't needed.  One guy said he was glad I brought my bike to the show because he got to see the trailer work.

Glad to hear you had a great show and I believe you met Anders (he of the alternator upgrade) and he said a big hello from me. Still hoping to ride your bike this year  - if you are still up for it - September or October? Pick a weekend and lets make it happen ;)
