just talked to his mother. they've moved him out of ICU, but it seems like he's not doing better yet. i talked to him (literally to, as he can't speak back) for a minute on the phone and told him about everyone here and the kind responses on this thread. don't know how much he's comprehending, but his mother said he was definitely responding. keep the good thoughts, folks.

Well that may not be the best news but sure as heck aint bad news either. At this point getting out of ICU has to be a big deal atleast! Now that he is out of there is there any chance of one or 2 of the locals swinging by to see him in person? If so I know it goes without saying but first of all pass along our thoughts in person and secondly kindly post back here to keep us in the loop.

Actually this incident has really made me think....If I were to bail tomorrow I have no one locally to pass along the info to you guys. There would be no way of knowing if I bought it or just decided to slink away. I have toyed with the idea of doing up a note that my wife could post on my behalf (I seem to remember a while ago this happened to one of our own but can't for the life of me remember who it was and I feel like crap for it!). They had their wife post one of 2 notes...fortunately it was the good one meaning he was only injured in the crash and not worse! My wife is a worrier though and already hates my bike so I am sure it may just push her over the edge.

I don't need to tell you you're a real stand up guy paulages; thanks for keeping on this and for being there for Mark.

I think of him frequently and I hope our prayers and well wishes help him and his family through this.

Keep on fighting Mark.

Yeah, that is good news.
Be sure and let us know when he gets transferred back down here.
I don't think it would be too difficult to organize a visit en masse.

it's hard to keep up with individual thanks for donations, so i'll just hope that those of you who have will keep up on this thread and accept your thanks here. we've got a couple hundred bucks so far... not much compared to medical bills, but can certainly help with something. a few people have apologized for only having 5 bucks or so. anything is appreciated and the gesture is not unnoticed. his mother was very touched, by the way.

That IS good news that he's out of ICU. Hope he has as speedy of a recovery as possible. Thanks so much for the updates Paul. Would like Mark to know that the Prayers are steadily coming. Can't really do much else, but there IS strength in Prayer.

You may want to hold off on the paypal donations. If worse comes to worse and nobody can supply the password to the account,
nobody will be able to use the money. On top of that, paypal is known for being shady so password recovery could be a lost cause.

paulages is collecting donations in mlinders behalf, exactly for this reason. He posted this on the first message in this thread:

..."EDIT- there is a donation fund going to help mark with some of his expenses when he comes back around. donations can be made to paulages@hotmail.com via paypal."...

Just giving this one a "Gentle Bump" cause we don't want to forget Mark and need to keep the support coming (in whatever way we can). So, with that being said, You Hang in there Mark, Prayers are
steadily coming! ;)

                                    Later on, Bill ;)

BTW, I had to go back eleven pages to find it and, how would we feel if it was about one of us and fell that far back?  Not good I'm sure. Even if it's just a "Gentle Bump" let''s show that Mark is in our thoughts and Prayers.  That goes for Jay's daughter Bre also. Sure, it may seem like we're saying things over and over, but we're talking about folk's lives here and lives are precious, aren't they? ??? ;)   Not really a rant, just encouragement, okay. :)

Also, therager is correct, Paul (paulages) is taking care of the donation thing and also supplies updates as he gets them.
No one had ANY need to be concerned about the donations, they will be going where they are supposed to and you can count on that. ;)

Hey, Mark, I don't pray often, but I'm lighting a candle for you.  Every patient I see and talk to who has been in a wreck, I think of you.  I don't know what this long road ahead will bring, but listen to your doctors, your nurses, your PT and your family when they give you encouragement... and tell them to #$%* off when they say things starting in 'never'.   My dear wife was told she'd never ride again, so much as walk without a leg brace... and this was after they told her she'd never keep her leg... but 17 years later, she's an xray tech, encouraging every patient to do their best and riding to work on her first motorcycle in 16 years.  She runs, now, with a titanium rod in her leg and fire in her heart.  She's done a metric century on a bicyle with me, and has an incredible passion for life.  Scars are beautiful reminders of what you've been through, and what you have to offer the world.

All of us know it might be a while until you feel safe riding again, but your soul still knows the language of the wind whispered in one's ears.  You're a good man, Mr. Linder, and if you came to my hospital, I would take my breaks to hold your hand and encourage you as much as I do my other patients.  You are all my family, in one way or another.

I'm just a patient transporter, but I do know what it's like to hold an unconscious man's hand as he gets CT after CT from the neural ward, or tell you every time there'll be a bump through the fire doors when I take you to the next of many appointments.  It breaks my heart sometimes that I just can't be with you (or anyone else) every time you need to leave the sanctity of your family or your room, but I would do my very best while you were in my hands.

Mr. Linder, I have never met you, but I truly wish you the very best from the bottom of my heart.  I want you to try hard, every day, to do the best you can, to rest and recuperate, and to be patient with the medical professionals around you who are doing their best, in turn.  As Kghost said, you're family, man... and if you came to my facility in PDX, and your family let me, I'd be more than honored to spend what time I could by your bedside, helping you recoup.  I'm just a PM away.

God bless,
Kit

Beautifully put Kits, straight from that big heart of yours. :)
Mlinder you have a lot of good people pulling for you, one day soon I hope you can get out of that bed and read some of the stirring thoughts many have expressed here.

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Aryn- i am going to have to find a way to get what you wrote to mark's mother and have her read that to him. you all have been great and very touching, but those were words of the type of person we need in the healthcare profession. caring and genuine. i'm sure he and his mother would be very touched to hear them. you're a great lady.
