Newbie here.. showing off my find.. 750K2 1824 miles
« on: November 23, 2008, 08:30:37 PM »
Hey Guys...

Letting ya'll see my 1972 CB750K2.. looking to find out a bit more about her..

I havent tried to crank her..   she had always been stored indoors untill me, like a dummy had it tarped and some condensation got to it.  it does turn over via kick start..

last licensed in 1984, houston texas as where I am.. it shows to have 1824 miles

twin disc front
oil cooler
extended rear wheel mount..  for lack of a better name
I am thinking the motor may be built..because of the oil cooler..  maybe I am way off..

She really is sweet.. any input would be appreciated... the seller was an auction.. she was taken for nonpayment of rent !!!   poor chap that lost her was probably sick..  :-\

So I have no absolute prior knowledge of her

Adding a few more pics .. sorry I didnt get them sooner..

 Her left side..

Carbs

speedo

discs and some jug

Thanks

Extended swingarm.. maybe RC Eng

Tracy glass body

Carbs look like might be different, cant see real clear.

Chances are good it may be hopped up. Before you try to adjust valves, get familiar with the process, then measure & record clearances.. just in case it is not a stock cam..

 Nice bike, BTW..  :o

Looks like some fiberglass mods have been made to the rear end of yours.

Nice looking bike seaweb !

That's the crappy before pic ;D
and yes, you will need to remove the body kit to get at the battery.

There should be a bolt on the rear, up behind the seat under the rear wheel to undo. It bolts onto the seat and keeps the complete kit in place.  Once that is off, you will get enough play to pull the seat. That's how my body kit is mounted. One bolt 8)

If you want to continue the body removal  lift the rear body kit a bit and slide the body off the gas tank rubber mounts slowly while wiggling the body kit side to side pulling towards the rear.

You can access the battery on mine without completely removing the body. "my bad on my text earlier" ::)

Definatly an RC engineering swingarm. It is almost identical to the one hanging on my wall, except mine is chrome. Those swingarms are heavy but with purpose, they are designed so a drag racer can tune his wheelbase to the track conditions.  Someone set that rear up to run drags, I have that same dunlop on the back of a cb750 drag rim (same gold anaodized rim also).

some tracy bodies have two bolts, one at the rear and one at the front. becareful of that when trying to remove it since it is old brittle fiberglass and once you crack it then the body is junk.

Thanks for the info so far..  I have no idea what an RC engine is..  or RC swingarm..  what is RC?

Sorry for my Ignorance..

I have to leave now, but will be back later.. maybe get a few more pictures closer up.. it's back in the building now, but the flash works fine on the camera..

I am having a bad feeling that maybe she is not going to be wanted as much as if it were in original condition..  how many people really want a souped up engine?.. on the positive side..  how many 72's are there with an origianal 1824 miles on it..  ( if thats even correct)

RC Engineering was a company that made CB750 parts back in the 1970's-1980's. The RC stands for Russ Collins who was the head of the company and an accomplished cb750 drag racer. While he did build complete bikes as well, he sold a lot of parts that ended up in hot rodded and racing CBs. He had everything from big bore kits to chassis stuff. Russ is still around and heads up a company that does electronic fuel injection for cars.

I understand that you are worried about value because this isn't a bike to you it is a pay day, but there are plenty of people who want hot rodded cb stuff out there. Look at all the big money spent on crappy built cafe racers (some of them sell for more than original bikes would), what you have is an original period correct cafe racer and I think that those in the know will pay for the quality of parts alone.

Gene, I appreciate you asking.. I believe my best shot is letting ebay fight over it.. what ever it brings.. it brings..

Yes, but if you have a number you would be happy with.........lay it out here. We won't let you get screwed on a deal either I assure you 8)  We have a history here 8)

The motor has value in a bike, the kit is "messed with" but someone could do a real nice job with it I'm sure.

Go high and see where it goes................... :)

Good luck to all interested parties either here or on Evil Bay/ ???

Just a suggestion: Before offering it up to ebay, once you have a price in mind, list it for sale here. If you get no bites, then offer it up to the ebay bidders.

Sweet looking ride, man.

I agree with the others. Post it up in the for sale section on this site first...Chances are you will probably have it sold for a fair price to both you and the seller pretty fast. Im just throwing a number out here but i would have to guess it could go for somewhere between $1500 and $5000...either between or even over the high side. But then again im also looking at what bikes like Vic worlds bikes go for as well as carpys as examples of both stock and cafe racers.
