Mec, ein vorschlag... have you thought of getting the long egli decal made of vinyl, and curved to follow the fairing edge, just a rhought, it would fit nicer.

yes, I have thought .........and curved...

and today I made it like you suggested. it fits nicer.

in addition to this I changed the look of number 11. no white no more, but black with red/yellow and on the other side black/yellow:

I am unsure which way I will go. suggestions?

I priced a Ti axle for my project at over $1,000. I'm using a stocker...

Sigh.
all the titanium (and some aluminium nuts and bolts) stuff costed 2500€ (and saved 2kg  :(  )
except the big parts as engine mounts, swing arm axle and rear wheel axle (including washers and nuts). these had been really cheap but time consuming, cause I did it on my lathe and mill.

great work thanks for sharing. Whats next on your agenda?

I am planning to make an aluminium fuel tank for my friends (peter) sohc egli. it seems that peter lacks a little bit on height compared to his weight (hoping he does not read this letters). his recent alu fuel tank does not suit his demands at all. so we will try to fabricate a better shaped tank.
here we have done a 1:4 scale papertank (I am sure this one will fit his figure very well):

So, I'll just give up on the dream then? I think the curved decal is much improved. I personally prefer the number decal on the left side- primarily black. I think it compliments the "Egli" logos.

And we (I) await impatiently for the documentation of your tank construction. ;D

Again mec, beautiful workmanship.

While personally I couldn't care less about curved vs straight decals etc, I just love coming back to this thread to look at that magnificent bike!

Alloy tank? Woohoo! Cheers, Terry. ;D

hi,

today I tried to start the bike again, resulting in a painful injury on my right shank, hihi.
I am too awkward to start my own bike  ???   ???

but i uploaded two (minor quality) vids on you tube. here you can hear the rattle of the flat slide carbs and a little bit of the exhaust noise (with db killers however):

I started the work on the alumminium gas tank project, pics will follow in another thread

nice work Mec, wonderful project. Terry will still be snoring and dreaming of sheep at the moment, but I'm sure he will love to hear that baby run.

Thanks mec. I too will be dreaming. Despite my Scottish ancestry it will not be sheep... but of beautifully crafted Egli replicas.

Sounds healthy. ;D

Ha ha, while Scunny deflects his own sheep shagging heritage to his more developed cousins on the mainland, I was sleeping, dreaming of my own "Tegli" frame that I'm gonna make soon, and I hope my 1060CC engine sounds as sweet as that beauty!

I just found a set of Mikuni 34mm flat slide carbs in a box Mec, when you get time, can you post a pic of how you've mounted yours on to your engine? Cheers, Terry. ;D

hello,

fitting the 34er mikunis was a lot of work.
first I had to change the distance between carbs 2 and 3. this was followed by "no choke on carb 3 no more". which was no problem at all.
the throttle actuation was set to the left, between carb 1 and 2, fabricating an all new wheel for throttle cable actuation an the nipples.
the carbs fit to the OEM rubber intakes.

Sounds great Mec!

Perhaps I missed it but what fairing is that on your bike and how does it mount?

Thanks
Andy

Hey thanks mate, those 34mm Mikuni's were gonna go on my Suzuki GS1000, but if space is gonna be tight on the "Tegli" (and "Migli"  ;) ) frames, then I'll get some more for the Suzy later. I'll go and see if I can stretch some OEM Honda rubbers over them! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hey Terry, do you think the carbs {flatslides} off the first gsxr 750 would work on our bikes. ?

Mine are off a GSXR750J drag bike Mick, not sure if they're the standard ones or the more expensive "race" carbs, but geez they're light compared to my CR's! As far as "fit" goes, as Mec has stated, it's a big job, but "do-able". ;D

hi andy,

the fairing is an very old one (origin unknown), as we call "vollverkleidung" (full fairing?). but I cut it to have only the upper part (halbschale, halbverkleidung), the side parts went to the dumpster.
the fairing is mounted 3 times a side (upper fork clamp brace, front light, brackets on cylhead), all with Dzus fasteners.

first of all: thanx to all for your positive feedback.

in the case somebody is dreaming of sheeps:
the first pixcture shows me in front of my girlfriend´s herd of 800 sheeps travelling through austria. this was 6 years ago.

someone asked for
the second one for all bike junkies interested in improvements to cornering abilities of your bikes.
it was in the late 70ies, beginning 80ies, a friend of mine developed fork clamps with adjustable trail. for the experienced biker this was a really good thing, having all the possibilities to tune the bike (within a few minutes) for curvy roads or more straight roads.
at the moment I am struggling with a cnc-mill software. today I had success and my (very) little cnc mill (a friend of mine brought it a week ago) fabricated a 1:3 scale lower clamp, not the final version however.
in the middle you can see a long hole where the steering stem can slide and must be fixed after setup. this has to take place on the lower clamp as on the upper clamp in a parallel manner.
unfortunately the progress of this work will take much time, cause at first I have to upgrade the cncmill with an automatic liquid cooling system before continuing on the work on the clamps.
