MEC: As far as the M3 alternator. I had an email with Mark of M3about three months ago. He told me he had made a few sets and sold them. has no plans to make anymore. They were too expensive and not well received relative to the effort to make them.

That can change at any time i suppose.

the air volume of all frame tubes are in contact all together. the air pressure gauge indicates if there is a fracture to come (hopefully not).

yes, it is winter  in austria. cannot tell you, how much I hate winter.

mec

Well your welds must be bloody good mate, if the whole frame is airtight! You should move to Australia mate, you'll love our winters (like a Bavarian spring) and you could make a very comfortable living making "Mecli" frames, ha ha!

Of course, the down side would be that I'd be over at your place every day looking over your shoulder and taking notes for the cheap arse "Tegli" frame company's R&D department, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

thanks for the link, voxonda.

thank you for your input on alternator, MCRider.

spikeybike, thank you.

inspired by another thread called "velocitiy stacks", a few words on that:

in the 80ies I ordered hundreds of these stacks for various bikes, all lenght from 30mm up to 70mm, for the sohc, bol d´or, kawa 500 up to Z1, a.s.o..
all worked, if rejetted properly. the shorter ones gave more high rev power, the longer ones low range power.
an old man allowed me to have a look on how these stacks are fabricated. it was fascinating and I never had forgotten the dream to make them by my own.
my first tries failed. the breakthrough came with a DVD called "metall spinning workshop" by Terry Tynan (http://www.terrytynan.com/metalspinning.html).
this picture show my first attempts:

Insert sarcasm here....

I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.

Not only do you create a kickass fame from scratch... but a swingarm, and velocity stacks.

I'm going to go cry in my beer now.

End sarcasm.

and nickle plated too ,   ...i love your choice of materials,        titanium and carbon fiber.. how can you go wrong with that

+1!!!

The nickel plating... so warm compared to chrome.

TI bolts? HOLY FREIKING COW!

PLEASE let us(or me at least!) know the final weight, with motor, oil, and gas after you get everything painted and re-assembled!!!
The HP to weight must be REALLY nice, probably better than the one you had back in the day I would bet.

That bike is looking more like it is art... waiting to be in motion there, sir!

HAHA!!!!

I keep seeing this thread pop up, and didn't pay too much attention past the first time or 2 viewing it to see new posts.
Glad I checked it out today!

Not only am I STILL trying to tie my jaw in place from having fell to the floor at the sight of that GORGEOUS nickel plated frame, but I get one of the tidbits of info I was after on the subject of velocity stacks.... The affected RPM range IS directly effected bu the length of the tunnel.
PM sent.... :)

hello,

in another thread I have seen a beautiful CB 900 from voxonda. but some members had not been lucky with this bike. therefore I had the idea to bring some photos of my old cb 900 in the meantime.
to my mind, it was not a bad bike. unluckily the bike was much more expensive to race than i.e. a Z 1000. all the race-kawas had been bored up to 1200ccm, had been reliable yet and very, very fast. with an extreme effort I brought my CB 900 to beat the kawas.
the engine was a stock cb 900 case, 1130ccm, bigger valves, racing cams (RSC or Andrews?), carillos, RSC dry sump lubrication, RSC dry sump, close ratio gearbox, Keihin CR 31 or 36er Lectron (does anybody remember, the carbs without any nozzle). this setup was strong enough to break the (new) primary chain within 4 laps on the salzburgring-raceway. therefore a RSC crankshaft (lightened and balanced by Höckle, Germany) with the wider primary chain and primary drive sprocket was implanted. now the engine was really strong and reliable too.

25 - 30 years ago:

Lectron 36 carbs
same bike with race fairings, alu fuel tank and carbon/kevlar rear seat (grid girls looked the same as today :)) :

frame was done by a friend of mine (hello peter!! thank you for your excellent work):

here with the famous CR 31

all the RSC stuff was brought to Austria by a friend of mine, who travelled to england several times a year. I do not know, where this stuff comes from (Harris, Spondon??), all the engine covers in magnesium, detto oilpumpcasing and sump:

overall weight of the bike ready to go including oil (without fuel): 169kg
some more specs: Dymag Magnesium wheels, Spondon front fork, DeCarbon rear mono shock.

I regret that a have sold the bike of course. last year I met the owner surprisingly. but he is not willing to sell the bike  :(

hello,

the wait is over. the painter did his job very well and most of all really prompt.

on the down side I see this project coming to an end  :(

getting all the painted parts I started to fit the fairing glass, rear taillight, fuel cock.
the upper fairing mount is still to be chrome plated.

all the painted stuff came "ferrari red". all other colors are decals and do not harmonize all together. the black/yellow egli decals are a must. all the others should harmonize in some way to the red/black/yellow mix. unfortunately the "carillo" decal is a white one (and others too). therefore I tried to bring some white color and used the number 11 in white. this does not match the red/black/yellow.
I hope I will find a better solution in the future.
same for the silver quick fasteners (fairing) and black fairing glass mounting screws.

nevertheless there are the first pixs:

here relatively decal free, maybe the best looking.

Sehr Schon.. gut germacht!!

Mec, ein vorschlag... have you thought of getting the long egli decal made of vinyl, and curved to follow the fairing edge, just a rhought, it would fit nicer.

I really like the 101.. had a lot of the parts gathered for a 31 model but sold them to buy a shop building. Does it have the hinged rear fender?

Have you ever watched the vintage roadraces over there? I sold a 27 JD project to Harry Hacker, he was racing it a lot in vintage roadrace over there..

yes, I intend to put it on a dyno (and will post some numbers). but before so, I will have to do a little "break in", at least 100km or so :). and this will take place not before there are "human" temperatures outside.

Mec , can you PLEASE post pics of the 101 in the OTHER BIKES section.

They are such a cool bike, best handling one they ever made.

Every time someone tells me how great their new bikes handle, I ask them if they can do a figure 8.. no hands.. :o.. then tell them a 101 can..

I asked about the fender as some 30s have hinged, some dont..
