Is there anything more fun than riding? They are between your legs and are quiet when you turn them off.

I took Pandora for a nice spin today to visit one of the many beautiful courthouses here in Georgia. This one is located in Monroe. I plan on riding to and photographing every courthouse in the state, that I find is worthy, there are a few here not worthy.

Looks better from the outside than from inside I am sure:)

it was a balmy 5C and sunny today so i took the little guy out to stretch his legs. it's not SOHC4 but SOHC nevertheless!
just went for an afternoon spin nearby, north of amsterdam.

was good to get some fresh air after the holidays and since the winter blues nearly got me.
no bike in the next pic and it's also shakey - but found it a nice view with the almost full moon above the old village.

nice bike what year and model
thanks, Mark

strange moon indeed. i think today it's full - need to watch out for those lunatics!

nice cd you have there. they are robustly built. funnily, i have a copy of a honda manual for the cd and a hynes for ss. they are technically pretty much the same so either book works.

i think these taillights on the ss were only used on the netherlands models. they were attached to a little holder between the casing and fender which is missing from mine, and is very hard to find. that's why mine is on a slightly strange, upward angle now.

if i stay inside the city i only use the ss50. it's the easiest/quickest for getting through traffic. a bigger bike is just more hassle in a tight city like amsterdam. no plastic scooters for me!

there are a 65 cc model cd 65..it runs 80-90 kmt..the 50 cc can be tunet to run 75..mine erly 1972 modell..have 16 mm kaburettor and ss50 exhost as standart...later modells vas de tuned..vith 10 mm kaburettor..and small dovnside exhost..(by bloking the svinghveel regulator.( danish mod make the regulator vork backverd) to make it drive 30 kmt.they run easy 75 kmt..but i need to registere mine as mc...or loose the bike if the cops catch me,,(im to old to been taken)..so drive 30 kmt is the only vay for me...

i have faund a amigo pf 50.. small bike..vith push rod engine..those small honda engines are fun..its the smallest valves i ever have seen..think they are 12mm in diameter

strynboen, my ss is 50cc with 16mm carb (a PO had 19mm installed which was way too big so i replaced it).
here in the netherlands they were de-tuned to go 45kph only which is the legal limit for a moped. this was done with a spark "retarding" mechanism in the flywheel, like what you describe. i replaced it with an advancing one.

with that, it can run up to 80kph now but you need to be really patient to get there. i think the ss head has larger valvles than the cd. (ss - super sport - ha ha!)
like you, i would officially need to register it as a motorbike to be legal but would then lose some previleges in the city, like being allowed to go in one-way lanes against direction of traffic. so i just risk it and hope to be able to play the innocent "such a cute little old thing" card if needed  ;)

the amigo is cool. you're planning to restore it?

honda ss50, 1979
netherlands market version. the rack is not stock, pretty much all the rest is apart from the flywheel and carb upgrades as described above. also those are original honda parts, though - only not the restrictive ones that were used in the netherlands.

we had the amigos here in Australia aswell, two speed push rod engines, some command high prices restored or in very good original condition, for what they are,a super low tech bike, they have a great appeal for some reason?i think its the simplicity?honda must have churned these out for the price of a hamburger?

probably nostalgia. and because they were low-tech and cheap probably they were not much valued and not too many survived in good shape so became rare?
i kind of like them when i see one but wouldn't want one for myself. i already have three bicycles ;)

the puchs and the fs1 were popular here, too.

Took the 750 out for a ride today.
Had to wait while some bicyclist was pulled up the mountainside and airlifted to the hospital. Hope they're ok.

Sure have, I love it. Can even take trips down the street without earplugs, now.
