paint ideas?
« on: March 02, 2009, 12:34:05 PM »
Anyone have any ideas for a paint scheme i could go with on my 73 cb500k cafe racer? The frames black, as well as the wheels, and engine side covers. Its got a stock tank and im using a roc city "round back" seat. I have a tendancy to paint everything black, so im looking for some ideas to switch it up a bit... I will say that i belive in the less is more philosophy so.....Thanks.

"less is more....."  Then I would go with a dark gray metallic stripe down the milddle of the tank and seat cowl.  Or use the same dark metallic gray for a Honda emblem or lettering.  Simple yet classy with the metallic adding just enough to set it off...

I'm looking at something less traditional, I want to go all out on the bike just don't have a finished image in mind yet

forgive my adolescence but what are scallops?

As for a tried and true combo you can't mess with Green met. cream and a slash of gold.

When it comes to color scheme ideas, I like to look at professional sports team color schemes and not use them directly but rather as a jumping off point.

There are a couple more in the build blog http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=27159.240

I just returned the seat to the painter for a repaint as the center blue strip and red panels weren't quite right.
Should have it back in a week and will post finished paint then.

Thanks
Jimmy
