May 2009 SOHC4 of the month... PLACE YOUR VOTES!
« on: April 20, 2009, 10:44:31 am »
Hi folks... happy 4-20-2009

let's get to this voting thread shall we?!
by the way... i set the poll to expire on the 2nd of may to make up for some of my delinquency in getting this poll up and running.  so, there will be an overlap of this thread and the next nomination thread.

first on the list is shenanigans:

on to ieism:

and CB500K2:

last but not least... Soichiro:

all excellent looking rides!  i wouldn't boot a single one outa my driveway!   :)

after doing this for quite some time... this voting thread was the bugger of them all.
i have the request, that if you nominate OR are nominated it would be very helpful to me if the pictures were hosted instead of downloaded to the forum.
i don't like having the pictures show smaller in the bike of the month threads and the only way to get them bigger is to host them, then each user won't have to individually click each and every picture to magnify... what a photo saved to the forum means to me is that every picture i use in a voting thread, i must save to my computer, then save to my special sohcfour photobucket account, then host to the voting threads.  thanks for the help!   :)

HAPPY VOTING!  and thanks for supporting SOHC4 OF THE MONTH.

Shenanigan's pics aren't showing up hef.

I'm torn between Shenanigan's bike because it might be one of the most badass on the site and ieism's which looks like a freaking work of art (even without the carbs ::))

I need to think about these for a while...

Good showing all around this month though.

Shoot... I still don't have any recent pictures.

Here are a couple older photos from different angles.  I don't have the pedestrian slicer on yet in these pictures, and still the old exhaust and no mirrors, but here you go anyway...

Sorry if this is not the proper place to post the photos.  If I broke any rules by posting them here, please PM me and let me know.

Thanks!

i suppose... now that i think about it... i would probably feel safer launching a CB off of a skateboard ramp than launching a skateboard off of a skateboard ramp.

anyway... i think you got like 3 feet of air that time.

Ya know, I've been away for a bit, and I'd forgotten how much I hate choosing between bikes of the month. I think I'm going to have to come back on the morrow for another look. I do especially like Shenanigans' road pictures, though.

Could I, by any chance, sway some votes in my favor if I said that my entire paint job is rattle-can?   ;D

(It's true - Duplicolor on the fenders and tank, Rustoleum on the rest.  Done in the basement of my house.  (Yeah... I was breathin' some serious fumes, not to mention I was keeping an eye on the furnace pilot light wondering when the house was going to go up...).)  :)

come to think of it burma, i haven't seen your avatar on a while. always reminds me of that scene in worlds fastest indian, when they were on the way to bonneville. figured you were just hanging around a more respectable part of the forum.  ;D

ieism, your bike is beautiful! i'm glad someone had the phenomenal judgment to nominate that spectacular machine! the subtle touches of gold are a masterstroke! really, these pictures belong in the artist thread and do this bike a disservice by its absence there. furthermore, i consider it a rude oversight on your part to not include a running video of this machine.

seriously, this is one of the nicest cafes i've seen.

Yeah that trips me out too, but I only have a cameraphone and can't get the video to play on a computer. If only you could hear ir roar, i'd surely win this time  ;)

Found a close-up of my gas tank.  Not too bad for a rattle-can job, eh?  It'd be nice if I could replace that gas gauge window though.  Anyone know where I can get one?

I should be more specific, the skull is a decal.  The rest is rattle-can.  The "1972" on the side of the tank (see other pictures - in my signature) are also decals.  I clear-coated over the decals.

Rustoleum on the frame and small parts, Duplicolor on the fenders and tank.  So far so good.  I was worried about painting over chrome, but no problems so far.

Wow... hard to beat this month!

My vote goes to CB500 K2 (I'm still a classical restorations fan, besides the fact that I nominated the bike  ;D ;D) Anyways is always hard to choose between the classic and cafe racer ones. Sometimes I wish I could choose one of each style. For me is more like choosing between two styles. There are usually more cafe style bikes than classic ones. I admitt cafe racer's owners do a great job, where imagination and creativity are more to be considered. Sometimes it upsets me having to choose!

Anyway, congratulations to all nominated bikes. They are all great. Good Luck

Salvatore.

agreed. sorta apples and oranges. for all the modded bikes i post i have a deep admiration for survivor bikes and restos. the folks who restore bikes (and cars) have my thanks for not only keeping history alive but reminding us what a beauty stock can be.
