I met Axl in Amsterdam for the first time and it just clicked, I considered him a good friend. Life just will not be the same. The SOHC community will miss you.
All the strength to his family.
RIP my dear friend.

HUGE LOSS! I am not surprised it was a bike accident though. He liked his hotrods! ;)
Well if anything, he will now have endless sunny days to ride without worrying about rain.

I wonder if we should see about getting the info from his site so it does not get lost?

Axl was no racer on the bike. He always drove carefully and concentrated. He was interested in technical stuff and engineering and not in racing like hell on the street with his tuned engines.

This is a sad day for the SOHC Honda world, and for me.

Nippon and I were going to travel to SPA this year with Axel. We've dined at his home with Axel and his gentle wife. I shipped his parts orders to him. I considered him more than a friend.

Axel was a gracious resource for many around the world. He will be sorely missed. Ride well, Axel. Ride on!   :'(  RR

I must admit, I speculated on his riding based on what he had on his site. I was not degrading him in anyway though, at least not intentionally.
He sounds like an awesome guy and after reading other posts, a very skilled rider.

Axl, was my riding buddy.

For over 10 years we had a fixed appointment to ride and have beers at the WER.
He was a far better rider than I and very sensible to.

We talked a lot. He kept patiently correcting the mistakes I made in German.
He was a nice and open minded person who will dearly be missed.

I'm deeply saddened.  :(  Spent a lot of time on his site. Had a couple of email conversations.

Really sad.
