yes guys I was only kidding just to make it a little lighthearted as bad as you think it is in the us we have to get everything from the states cant even get something as mundane as a hd camchain up here so far so good for me as I have never had a deal go bad from a us seller!you both have such nice bikes and places relatively close to get all your great stuff!and yes the postal thing is a sore spot for sure seems to be better when you deal with a private person instead of a business .sorry to crash your thread and again nice bikes!bill
No worries, Bill.

It is Thursday, and all I can think about is riding the heck out of my bike this weekend!  Even though this bike took a bit of doing to get here, I am really happy with it now.

Last weekend, some 20-something guys were checking out my bike, and one said, "I bet that bike is a chick magnet."  I had to laugh inside because I couldn't care less about impressing some random girls, but only about satisfying myself and like-minded vintage bike enthusiasts.  I told him, "Not really, but my girlfriend seems to think it's cool.  So I got that going for me."

Might be worth the experiment should your current friend decide in huge future the bike is cooler than you  ;)

For the record, I doubt the bike is anywhere close to as cool you though, Don- what do the young punks know anyway...

I think I'm of a certain age where my coolness ceases to exist in the minds of most people (mine included), and is relegated to my nephews.  There's a cool TV ad for Dodge running right now that seems to sum up my role as the "crazy uncle."  I can live with that kind of cool.

New 2013 Dodge Challenger & Charger Commercial - Uncle

I didn't introduce them to speed metal, but I did give them some fun rides in my BMW E46 M3 and on my GSXR750 and taught them, when it comes to rock music, "if it's too loud, you're too old [Mom]."

That said, my bike is pretty cool to me!  8)

The guy fabbing a sheet metal fender to replace the plastic inner fender flaked, so I'm going to just reinstall the plastic for now; that'll protect my electronics from water and road debris.

Sorry to hear that, have you talked to bondo lately? I need to go see if he's even started on my tank! I'm waiting for him to call and say it's done lol

Hi Jordan,

I saw him two nights ago.  He dropped off my tank and side covers for my stockish 550.  He left Thursday morning for the Laughlin River Run.

Jordan - buy my BCR tank instead. Saves you time and money

Hahah I bought Dons tank months ago and the painter still hasn't gotten back to me! I left a hefty deposit too! It's a cb750 tank so I don't know how well it will work on the 550.. Which BCR tank is it?

No, I'm working. I won't be doing anything remotely fun until I finish this semester, fiancé/wife leaves.. Take pictures!

I drove up to Willow Springs International Raceway for Corsa Moto Classica 2014 -- the annual vintage motorcycle races and show produced by Yoshi of the Garage Company.  You will be hard pressed to find more examples of Nortons, Tritons, Laverdas, Hondas, Yamahas (especially 2-strokes), Hodakas, Triumphs, Ducatis, etc.  And the majority of them are track bikes actually being raced.  Vendors (Joker, Works, Race Tech) and builders (Lossa Engineering, even Kenny Cummings of NYC Norton) and many racers are on hand.  The racing is fun to watch, too.  Today, the wind was blowing something fierce in the high desert.  I didn't envy the guys on the track dealing with the gusty winds.

Enough yammer, here are some pictures.  I apologize for not snapping any good ones of the many Hondas on display.  I guess I was hypnotized by all of the more exotic makes.

A trio of the numerous Yamahas:

Kenny Cummings' (all the way from New York) Norton Sealy Mk IIs:

Great pictures, thanks. The first pit with the Kawasaki Bighorn and the TZ's is Dave Crussell. He usually comes to race with us at Mosport. The TZ750 frame in the photo was built by the same man who did mine. Nice bike huh? Dave did very well at the Isle of Mann this year then was in Phillip Island in January. He's a great rider.

Ooooh Awwww, really neat. That Empulse looks like it would snap at you if you got to close! Snorton Nortons, I once took a trip to the crater lake area on my 750, I ran into a couple of fellows riding Nortons cant remember the sizes but one was a one lunger and the coldest beast to start I have ever seen. We camped out after riding the wiggleys all day, next morning we were ready to split and head for our respective homes.  Of course my bike started right up. somewhat longer for the 1st Norton and that ol one lunger would not start.  Those bikes had no electric starts so we all had a couple of turns kicking it over.  I was on a dead line and had to get back so wished them luck and took off.  I heard later that the old beast finally gave in about 20 min later.

To say the least "Wish I were there".  That's part of what its all about!  Bully for you.  Finally ordered my brake lines.  Need to find a new choke cable, wish ours had the old lever on the carb set up.  Tried to get Bill at Cycle X to see if He could rig one up but he was unable to without some doing.  Still no oil tank, got to get on that.  Glad it all went well. later

Glad it all went well. later

I think Kenny might use a starter like the GP bikes (spins the rear wheel so you can bump start it).  His Sealy frames and aluminum tanks are a thing of beauty.  The Yamaha TZs were really cool, too.

I've been riding the Nine Lives Bike and enjoying the bejeezus out of it.  Since the battery is not as easily accessed (under the mounted seat), I am installing a charging wire (using a spare Battery Tender cable) so I can easily plug it into my Alien Motion quick charger.  Since you can't run a trickle charger like the battery tender, I wanted a way to give it a quick boost and/or balance charge if there's a gap of a few weeks between rides (juggling between bikes).

The sad thing is that I was thinking today of selling my beautiful RC51 SP2.  It's all dialed in, but I haven't been riding it much lately (been more about the vintage bikes).  Since purchasing it in the shape below, I've added an Ohlins shock, Leo Vince pipes, stainless steel brake lines, Brembo RCS MC, CF rear fender, gel seat, etc.  I'm wondering how much more I'll ride a modern superbike, and whether I might trade it up for a S1000R naked.

The RC51 was one of the only bikes I ever considered to replace my CB750. I got my wish when my son bought one a couple years ago! Unfortunately that was short lived when he got snagged for a $1400 ticket a year ago.....he promptly sold "my" RC.  :( I got one bloody ride on it.

Nice ones are becoming rare in this part of the world.

He was a tad over the limit in a speed trap zone.  :o (87mph in a 45) First ride of the season on a beautiful day in a part of the world that would prefer there not be motorcycles on the street. But the fact is he was completely guilty and as a result will be nine years before all his points are available again.

Anyone with an RC will tell you these bikes have looooong legs and are geared tall.

Sorry no, no sale. I just have a soft spot for these beauties.

Woah. That's an insanely high ticket (granted, a high speed, too). Bummer on the license but, well, we all gotta learn and that's a cheaper lesson than washing out.
