update for today:

Decided to run a small surge tank with the swing arm, it will also be a collection tank for the vents off the motor.  Used a small aluminum water bottle of all things.  20$ and looks great.

Hooked up the exhaust and ran the bike for 20 mins.  Smoked a little at start up but once up  to temp is all nice.  Burned off the excess oil from my "overflow" condition, now all is good.

Installed a DOHC reg/rect.

Bike starts right up, idles at 1.2K with the 650sc carbs on it.  I have done nothing but clean them.  The bike will rev to about 3K and an then bog down (about 1/4 throttle)

My plan is to up the needles first.  and see what the get me.  IF nothing works I am going to drill out one size up the mains.


Anyone know what temp the pipes on these bikes should get too?  I have a IR thermometer to test each pipe.  So it could be helpful in tuning.  The bike feels like it just wants to run...

I wanted to get her in a near complete state.  I have been doing little things like soldering all my wire splices, mounting the coils, making new plug wires,getting everything routed right, ect.   I just got the rear sets knocked up, rear break is functional now.  Still need to make the shift linkage.  The carbs are tuned good enough to drive, but need to be dialed in.  Only thing not on the bike will be my filters (pods?) for the carbs.

She is not show quality yet, but I can detail it out out as time goes on.  I learned a lesson on this one, don't try to make a what is essentially a prototype show quality....make it look great AFTER you have it all together and running...I will have alot of aluminium to polish soon.


I hope you all like it, it is a unique 750 that is for sure. it has taken alot of work.

So there is alot of detail that needs to be done, so be easy on me. It is not show ready yet.

All the aluminum needs to be repolished. 
The motor's paint needs to be touched up.
Tank and tail need another coat of black and clear coat.
Rear set adapters need to be powder coated.
Shift linkage needs to be fabed.
Seat needs to be covered.
Rear tire needs to be replaced.
Need to source pods for now
Exhaust needs to be wrapped.

I may also have custom oil hose made for the swing arm I;m not a fan of all the hose clamps

Also keep in mind that the bike will eventually have a turbo/IC mounted in the front.

Amazing.  As for the wheelie oil issue, you can easily compensate by doing a stoppie. 
The bike looks really clean.  I'd love to hear how it rides with the monoshock.  Also, is that the header you are going with?  It looks like there's no baffle, so it will do a great job making friends with the neighbors!

The oiled swing arm actually is working much better than I had though.  I put a small expansion tank (you can see it on the right side) to take any surges, and to route the crankcase vents too.  I haven't had any oil problems at all yet.  Pressure is spot on, and the whole systems holds about 3.5 quarts right now, I haven't tried to put more in as I can tell the swing arm is almost full.  Also, the swing arm should act as somewhat of a cooler too.

From my trips around the block so far the mono shock is very smooth, a very different feel from the stock bike.

I have a muffler that goes on the end of the pipes, but I don't like the way it looks on the bike. The 4-1 is only temporary until I get the turbo mounted, it lets me get the bike running and to shake it down before I put the turbo on.  It is loud though.

 This bike was a total rebuild, I took everything down to metal.  So there are lots of little gremlins here and there to shake out. I want to get it 100% before I go through all the problems that turbocharging it will bring.
