Need help identifing this bike
« on: June 02, 2009, 07:14:50 PM »
Brother in law called me today and told me his neighbor moved out and left a motorcycle behind.  He said it was an old Honda so I drove down to his house to check it out.  Well I couldn't pass up a bike that needs a home.  I know I can bring it back to life.  It's got compression so that's a plus.  Need to do some research to find out year and model.  If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm looking in my crystal ball and ..yes...the mist is clearing....yes I see a bike....it's...it's....damn it's gone again! ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

You might want your bro law to get in touch with the neighbor and see if he has the title and wants to unload the bike. If he has the title, you taking the bike without his permission could find youself with receiving charges or theft. You may think he abandoned it, but you don't know that for sure. He may be planning to come back for it later. Did you check the frame for a vin # and model #?

Well they neighbor called the landlord that owns the house and said he was leaving.  He left the house in shambles and didn't pay his last months rent.  I don't think I'll have any problems.  Landlord said take it.

Thanks for the help.  Bike will need some work but it looks like most of it is there.  My CB750 is finished and ready for paint so this bike came at the right time.

That is so beautiful....if you could restore it to that you would not just have a nice bike on your hands but an incredible piece of artwork!

Quite a bit, the Black Bombers are one of the more valuable Honda twins. I love the 450's.

I think I saw one or two on ebay today going for over $3k or maybe it was $2k...

I really like them. I was looking at those before I decided on my 550. But couldn't get one reasonable price for a first bike. I also like the Super Hawk. I would LOVE to ride one because I'm a smaller guy and I think they'd be a lotta fun around town. (The super hawk that is) if anybody's got one and doesn't mind me riding lemme know  :D

To me that is the pinnacle and the end of the 'early" 60,s styling. A good looking and a bit exotic motor in the older style chassis.
Everything changed so quickly in the next 2 or 3 years and the bikes looked totally different forever..

I think that motor looked far better than the 72/77 series.
