You are not kidding about the winds. I was getting the crap beat out of me with the gusts coming down 84 through Baker city. Leaning about 5 degrees into the wind. A couple gusts literally moved my bike over a foot or two (tires actually slid sideways at 80! (it was awesome!) Have a safe trip back, comrade!

I'm psyched, it looks like I might actually be able to ride this weekend... Phranc is up and running... see the thread here http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=55230.0.

Awesome, it looks like you gals/guys did an impressive amount of work.
Way to pull together!

Borkunit has offered his services on the party management board of directors, thanks Borkunit!
So, we are in the final stages.
Don't be shy, I encourage everyone to attend the after party, there'll be plenty of food and music.
BYOB and BYOBS (bathing suit) the forecast for Sat. is 98 degrees !
We have a beautiful big pool and grassy area with plenty of shade, it's gonna be a great time!

I regret to inform I'm officially out for Sat :(  I just have to much going on with school this week and next to make it.  Reminding myself how much it cost me, I should probably work hard.  Hope you guys have a great time, be safe.

Well we'll miss you R550, maybe you could just show up for the photo op at 11:00?
Otherwise, good luck with your studies.

wsup55, glad you are going to make the ride!

That's o.k., no contract required!  :D
So that's ~15 for the ride and about the same for the party.
Gonna' be a great time, don't miss out!

i'll definitely be there for the ride... not sure about the party yet, due to some other evening plans. i don't eat flesh anyway, so dogs and burgers wouldn't really be up my alley. i'll at least stick around for a beer or two.  ;)

We have a diverse menu of cole slaw, salad, beans, and fresh fruit and veggies for our herbivore friends.  ;)
For omnivores, there'll be pulled pork and burgers as well.
See ya' then!

You guys, I'm sure you all know this but I was thinking about it this morning so I thought I'd mention it.  It's gonna be in the 90's plus this weekend which means dehydration is a possibility.  DRINK LOTS OF WATER when you can while out riding.  Nothing like blacking out while doing 55 on a motorcycle.

I know, I sound like a Jewish grandmother :-\

Nope, not sorry about it ;D

I hate to say this but I might have to pull out.  On the way to work today my rear wheel started feeling like it was swimming around on me a bit.  Turns out I broke a spoke and some others now look a little loose for my liking.  I don't have any experience in spoking wheels nor a lot of time before tomorrow.  If i get the chance I'll pull the rear off my project bike on hopefully be there in the morning.

Anyone know of a good place to get a wheel redone around town?

I would say tomorrow would be a good time to get it done...are you guys not meeting at a garage before the ride?

Also I was going to make a comment about burnouts in Portland and decided not too...

alberta tire and wheel ("tweaker tire" as i call it) are good and affordable. it's on 7th and NE alberta, and they've been there forever. the guy who'll fix your wheel is a real gem. i could do it for you, but they'll likely be cheaper, and definitely faster.

+1 on the dehydration thing.  When it's serious, serious hot, I've been wearing a wicky longsleeve tshirt with the arms soaked and wrung out.  Very cool, even at stop lights.

btw, beer does not count as hydration.  just thought I'd throw that one out there, too. ;)

I'd check that place on alberta, honestly. they might have 'em in stock if they do wheels for people

Unfortunately they said they don't stock for Honda and I'd have to supply them with spokes if I needed service.
