On my 76, the rear brake supporter-arm-thingy is too close to the tire to run wider without some welding or other such.

Bridgestone Spitfires. 100 on front & 120 on back. No problem. I've heard we can squeeze a 130 on the rear.

I run 130's on the back of mine and the brake stay is very close to the tire. It makes it easy to tell if I have it in alignment

Hi , im relatively new to this forum and CBs but not new to Hondas , recently picked up a 78 CB 750 SS , and it would be great if there was a thread specific to the F models. Got my bike all tore down now for restoration but heres a pic of before and the after will be coming in a couple months i hope

100 front is the stock size?
Nobody bumped up to a 110. Is there a reason why one wouldn't go 110?
Would 110 fit?

On my 76F1 the bracket that holds the front brake line is welded to the inside of the fender support making clearance very tight. The F2/3 may have a different mounting but for me no way would a larger tire fit without altering the support bracket.

Here is my 77F I purchased in September of 2007. Thanks to the forum and Jason for the new triple trees it finally goes straight!

Here is the 78F I bought last fall for "parts" from a guy for $600. The bike has 14,000 miles. The before shot:

I like the blue one the best. Great color. I have something similar picked out for my 79 XS650. 2001 Ford color Bright Atlantic Blue Metallic.

The blue bike is DuPont Hot Hues - "Blue Mood."

The DuPont paints are excellent products, but be prepared to spend some money. The silver 78F is painted with Duplicolor Paint Shop Black and "Brilliant Silver." That paint is not nearly as good as the DuPont product, but it's about 1/3 the price.

I will probably sell the silver bike next spring, since it's completely stock except for the paint, it's a very nice ride, but I prefer the lower bars, koni shocks, and kerker sound over that of stock 78F configuraion.

I don't want to hijack this but you are all here! I have a 76 750F and I think this exhaust is not stock but very common. It has holes in the bottom of the muffler that I want to fix. Or I might just replace the muffler. The headers are in very good shape. I tried getting the muffler off and it was no go. Of course I took off the clamp between the muffler and collector and the bolt that goes into the frame. It's just stuck on. I sprayed with PB blaster several times over the course of a few days and still no loosening. I hit it with a rubber mallet several times but I didn't want to disfigure it.

This fellow seems to think you can't get the muffler off, which makes me wonder. But I don't know if that's for the stock or the one I have.

thats not a stock muffler. The stock muffler comes apart so that one may not.

Here is mine (sorry for the bad quality).

Depending on how big the holes are try using JB Weld. I did this for a small linear hole in the bottom of a muffler on my XS650. Has lasted for a few years so far. No need to remove the muffler.

JB weld and a coke can has been the fix to many a rusty pipe. It lasts a long freakin time. I just did a resonator on a Yamaha in two pieces. It was fun to shape the metal and then set it with goo.

Hey Guys, I got some new tires. 110/90 front and 130/80 rear Avon vipers.
I think that I might have rather gone 110/80 on the front, but they look pretty sweet... even though the rest of my bike is half rat.
I had to take the front fender off. if it was not bent it would have been ok, but there was very little clearance, and where it was bent it would touch now and then.

I was able to leave the support bracket on, so all the lines are still in place.
I will post some pictures in a few days.

can anyone give me any specs (length), and routing pictures for throttle cables with low bars.
I have drag bars now, and after I changed from the original bars I have had trouble keeping the line from touching the pipes.

Look in the FAQ section under where to buy parts/parts suppliers. A company called LPM makes replicas that are by accounts I have seen better than OEM. LPM also lists them on ebay so you can go that route too.
