spikeybike,Awesome build so far.I am doing my cb750 this winter,I am hammering dents in one of my tanks,thought about cutting it but the hammering is going well.I started a thread about it,have yet to update it.Too bad about your other bike,broke my heart when I seen the aftermath.Got a bunch of spares if you need any,let me know.Cheers

read the next thread down in my sig ... i rebuilt it already

got some progress on the seat

added some more sheet for support , scrapped an old computer for the sheet metal , it had some pretty thick gauge on it so "chop, chop"

drilled some holes ... the open spaces on the sides is so i can run the wires for the tail/turn signals/tag light

so basically, the bar in the front will slide into a groove (that i haven't made yet) then the back will be tightened with wing nuts from the underside ... not sure exactly how it's gonna work with the inner fender yet but... i'll figure somethin out

oh and i forgot to mention that so far on this build ... i have spent zero dollars

(my budget for the body is $100, witch will mostly be rebuilding the wheels.... and anyone who sets a budget on a motor rebuild...... has never rebuilt a motor

Bike's looking very good.

That weld is pretty bloody good for a newbie, you'll get no truck from me for teaching the little one how to handle power tools.

well i ordered the 16" wheel ,spokes, and i had to get fork tubes as well ... $90 later, that above quote is either dead on ....... or a total pipe dream

i just thought of a pretty good name ... since so far 100% of this build (and most likely the rest of it too) has been financed by me selling my blood plasma

i thought "Blood Money" was pretty fitting

nah .. i did red on the last one ...

so does anyone know what to use to clean up the pad surface on the rear drums... should i use Rolocs, and if so witch one .. can i get away with using a fine wire wheel on my drill .. some sort of chemical .... ?

got the seat attached o the pan and did some more shaving on it, once i get some neoprene from Inkscars i'll get the vinyl on it

oh.. and i found those signals in a box in my garage ... not totally sold on using them , but i most likely will since i already have them

i have discovered that an 80 grit "flap" wheel , that is almost used up is the #$%* for shaving seat foam ... in the past i've used 36 grit flat sanding discs .. witch can get a little sporty at times ... but the 80 flap wheel (make sure it's a fairly used one) worked like magic, butter smooth , doesn't cut too fast or too slow

..... oh and i was also thinking of naming it "Freebie" ... for obvious reasons

you sure i can't use a fine wire wheel chucked in a drill .... the 36grit Rolocs really scare me (don't wanna gouge it) ... and i thought i had some of these

but i don't

the wire wheel is way less aggressive then 36grit

you have to go 3 sessions ..all on separate days (if you don't go all 3 times they can't use the plasma)

it takes under 2 hours each time
1st- $25
2nd- $40 (to motivate you to come back)
3rd-$25

then the process resets .... but some places give you the 3rd pay amount every time after your second visit
it's easy money if you can handle needles, and pumping a machine full of your life juice

sanded the casting marks off with a 50 grit flap wheel

OMG i miss havin access to a plasma cutter, this #$%* took FOREVER

are those exhaust hangers or rearset mounts? regardless very well done, definitely like the way this build is going (kill me but I wasn't a big fan of the leopard print) very sleek and smooth, it fits the theme of the build.

ok so , the combination of strong lights and a not so strong camera , are making it hard to shoot good pics....but anyway

the first piece was tacked on to my liking, i then used some threaded rod and nuts to get the other side straight and level in all directions ... then once they were both where i wanted them , i tightened up all the nuts to keep it from moving too much ...i was thinking they would move a little in one direction or another, but the nuts really did there job and they didn't move at all
