Cleaned the carbs.  Mounted the o-rings and carb boots.  Mounted the carb rack on them and then mounted the carb box - got it all hooked up.  Also put the condenser thing on.

Ordered a new fuse box.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Terry, if its drawn & rolled ,  like plate,  it is called billet..

Large pieces that look like logs of aluminum, are called billets and are placed after preheating (or heated in the machine) to make extrusions...

I am not sure what refined casting alloys in larger form are called..

Keep making stuff, its fun, isnt it..

Took the hybreed out yesterday. Fired right up. After making a few adjustments, got it out on the road and tooled around a bit. Got it to 95mph before my courage took leave.

I realized I put the shift fork shaft in backwards (it's got a hole in one end to receive the retainer) on my CB750- this after I re-assembled the case and installed it back on the bike. I was able to get it to come out a bit by shifting gears and rotating the drive shaft so I decided I would give it a go. I put it in neutral and then pulled it out slowly to the sound of the shifter forks dropping a bit, tink, tink, tink. Wondered if it would go back in. Flipped it around and pushed it back in, feeling a bit of resistance as it aligned with each fork finally hitting the back of the case. Wiggled the drive shaft a bit and it pushed into that hole as well.

i pulled the rear fender and mounted the new led tail/brake/turn signal assembly onto the rear of the airtech seat. it really DOES look better like this. i will be trimming and reshaping the fender to go back on though.

Well done Joe, I did the same thing in 1982 when I rebuilt my first K1, but didn't have the balls to try what you did, so I drilled a hole in the other end of the shaft for the shifter tang, and rode it like that for another 4 years. I wonder where that bike is now? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry,

That is a real beauty!  I could sit and stare at that bike for hours.  From what kind of bike did you get those gauges?

Kirk

Ha ha, thanks for that mate, I do stare at it for hours! The gauges are just fleabay accessory ones, but they're made in Japan and are quite accurate. Only problem is that the odometer has a mind of it's own, and my 50 mile ride on Sunday flipped the odo over like 5000 miles? I'll either need to buy a new one, or maybe paint a decimal point on the lens? ;D

Last night I got home from physiotherapy (buggered back from parachuting) mowed the lawn and POR-15'd my K6 tank, so when I get home in two weeks (I'm off to Tasmania today for an Army job) the tank will be ready to paint. Ooher, I better order some new sidecovers and badges too! ;D

Within the last week:

In a testament to always tightening everything back up even if you're "coming right back to it", I checked some wiring but neglected to tighten down my left side-cover screws because I wanted to cover the wires back up but would "come back to it" to check a couple more things.

Well I didn't get back to it and forgot so when I rode to work the next day I saw something fly by out of the corner of my eye which, of course was my (up until then) unmarred left side-cover jettisoning from my bike and catching air across the 163 at 70mph.

I cursed myself up and down the rest of the way to work and then started to weigh options for replacing the stock side-cover...all of which were inferior and very overpriced.

The more I thought about it and the angrier I got at myself I figured risking my life to recover the thing may not be such a bad idea.

Took a spin by the place where I lost it the next day and to my suprise it was sitting against the divider and didn't look shattered. Not only that but it was right at the start of a good 1/4 mile where the shoulder was a big as a lane.

Looped back, pulled off the shoulder, stuck the think in my leather and was back to freeway speed in a matter of seconds. Pulled it out when I got home and it's all intact, just scuffed up. Happy days!

Cleaned the K&N filter twice.  Letting dry now so I can oil it.  It is about time - it has been 16 years.

Today I finished a simple cleaning of the float needles and jets, re-installed the works, and went for a ride...  I took pictures afterward, as I had repainted it a couple weeks ago.  I recently had the header ceramic coated, and fabbed up a little glass-pack muffler from some scrap 316 and 304 tubing in the shop.  It sounds nasty when you "let it eat"    8)

I like that color!  I don't know why.  ;D
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

what would you charge me to build a muffler just like that one to fit on a 2 1/2" outlet header? that looks badass

I have made up 10 cans already.  I swaged them for a tight fit over a 2.5" outlet, but had to split mine and put a high-strength clamp on, as my header was a bit beat up.  That said, the muffler, and a clamp for $125.  If you bring your bike, I will make you a hanger that uses the p-peg bolt like mine, "on the house".   If not, you will need to figure that on your own.  These things are all stainless, including the core FWIW.

Fabricator

On edit: The main body of these mufflers is 3" od, and 11" long.  Overall is 14 1/2".  Currently the internal perforated core is about 9" long, and 1 1/2" ID all the way through.  Other lengths can be made to suit.

Mick – What's the story with the that Seeley Honda in Brisbane? Haven't seen that bike around before. Trying to guess if that's the owner and tuner, and if so, which bike shop.
Cheers mate. ^^ bird. brissie.
