after 2 years of searching i finally scored a solid set of HM341's the other day.

Very nice! I jumped on a set 2 weeks after buying my bike, and still regret it. Should have waited for a solid set. If you don't mind me asking, how much did they cost you?

eBay score $750 shipped from sellers mrmonkeyclawI then I needed to get the heat shields (repop) from David silver spares $160. The defusers were pretty rough as we'll so I swapped them out original honda part $100.

Man maybe i'll have a better turnaround since i'm local. I pass through orlando every weekend on my way up to Augustine

My turnaround time was shipping from/to NY and also having a holiday weekend work against me. I would say actual machining time like 2 weeks

Merry Christmas everyone!   I spread the cheer by selling my K1 engine to a guy locally.
He's got the CB bug, and wanted a spare engine.  He is heading out tomorrow  to pick up a runner K1.  He said the seller dumped a bunch of money into the engine.  Showed me a picture.  No gauges, GL front end, CR carbs....hopefully he will join us here in the new year....

Little cooler here but I don't have to work today so no real need to freeze. Waiting on parts for the KZ and I'll finish that one up.

Swapped shocks with Dave500 to compare newer technology Ikons vs original shocks. I have the originals. We pulled mine off and we expected them to be pretty rooted, but they didnt feel too bad. Down stroke was just ok but return was better. We think these have been replaced at some time as we dont think they are original. Condition is too good.

So i rode Daves Ikons and immediately feel nicer. The down stroke is smoother and so is the return. It absorbs road surfaces better and left me feeling more condident. The old shocks would bounce more and take more time for the bike to return to a stable condition. Shutter surface was also more noticable with the old ones vs the Ikons that absorbed it better. Thanks to Dave for giving his time to help compare.

Here is my bike with Daves Ikons.

there was a moment where I forget the brakes were made of asbestos when I first pulled them off and started wiping up the dust with a rag. Then 2 hours later I had a moment of clarity when I realized i just inhaled a bunch of it.

theyll have to be old shoes these days to contain asbestos, anyway all and any dust should be avoided, theres still bad #$%* like silicosis etc from simple things like cement dust, that dosent get bandied about so much either?even aluminium polishing or sanding has hazards,it astounds me when i see a tradesman cutting tiles or cement with a power tool dry with no eye or breathing protection and smoke like dust all around him?

stock honda shoes from 1971. I'm surprised they didn't delaminate first. Still had the HM logo on them.

i like these ikons, ive used the hagons aswell but these are an edge better i think?the damper adjustment gives a little more fine setting?im up to a little spirited riding as far as these old suspensions let me go,i was surprised at how my bike rode with christos older single action what ever they are shocks let me ride,i could tell they wernt as good as what i was used to but the average rider would be happy with them if he didnt know any better?i thought they would be just #$%* straight away but i really did push them through some familiar runs we do and although i didnt like them and had an uneasy feeling they wernt as bad as i thought they would be?we even disembled the spring to feel by hand the damping, you can ride these bikes quite fast with modern tyres and rear shocks on stock front ends.

We breathed sh1t loads of the stuff back in day in the brake game.
It wasn't uncommon to go over to the pub after work covered in sh1t and drink until closing time.

I reckon that if it's gunna get ya, it's gunna get ya.
Aside that, carry on as you are.
The big  fellas gunna ring the bell when he's ready just keep kickin goals till the bell rings.  ;D

I fcuked a ring today putting the slugs back in today.
That's what I did to my bike.  ;D
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Went to fit new pads to the front calipers of my 750F1. The old ones, although new, had become contaminated by fluid from leaking seals. The seals were new too. I had replaced the seals and the leaking stopped, so time to put in the new pads. And, they didn't fit! I measured them and they're .5mm bigger diameter than the old ones  (piston side only). I got them from Cruizinimage in Japan. Their stuff is usually pretty good but this time they got it wrong.

Someone else had the same problem from a different supplier. They just filed off the paint on the outter edges to make it fit and slide in an out.

Correct.  It's pretty common.  Just take some Emory paper or a wire wheel to those metal pad backers and you'll be good.

Yep, already tried the wire wheel. Looks like emery paper and a lot of elbow grease then.

Put on the chain and took it for a spin. Had one carb float was sticking on but got that fixed. Waiting on my carbtune so I can synch the carbs. Bike seemed to run pretty good, I forgot what it was like to ride one of these  :D.
