Your rear shock look like theonly can move around 1 1/2 or 2 inches..

You mean ground clearance wise? I'll take a look at that tomorrow.

They do Frank, but Danny's got some nice Koni's to go on once he rebuilds them. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, it was cheap and I won’t feel bad about anything I do to it. It runs great and only has 40k kms on it. I’d like to make it into some sort of scrambler/cafe like thing. Trying to talk my wife into letting me get a good welder so I can play with a bit of fabrication. With it being learner legal I could easily make some money off it if I can make it look cool(ish).

Larry, it’s good to hear someone else will admit to riding one of these.

Ha ha, no worries mate, I think I'd over-insure the sh1t out of it and push it over a cliff. You might have to roll around in the dirt and pretend that you dropped it in a corner and was lucky to not follow it over the cliff though, as no self respecting bike thief would steal that thing, no matter how drunk/stoned he/she was, not even in Middle Earth! ;D

And to Eric, Larry, and everyone one else, yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Behold my self inflicted act of beauty-fying my 2006 VTR1000F. I'n my defence your honor, the bike started as a crashed wreck that I nursed back to health but didn't want to take back to standard, but am having second (and third, fourth and fifth) thoughts now...........  :-\ ;D

Terry, that headlight thing is hideous...no idea what to do without replacing the original fairings...maybe put a stunt cage and a big rear sprocket and learn to ride wheelies real good?...when you #$%* up and dump it it can't get any uglier?
If it works good, it looks good...

Ha ha, thanks guys, it's an ebay chinese headlight/fairing combo, but I wanted to frame mount it, while being able to mount the OEM gauges inside, and adjust them independent of each other, i.e., be able to tilt the light up or down and the gauges back to a comfy angle, and being frame mounted, be able to still turn the handlebars lock to lock.

It actually works quite well and is very solid, but being all alloy it's still quite light, so I might leave it until I get it on the road and see if I can't come up with a better looking compromise. I think this bike might be my daily rider as it's quite narrow, so good for lane splitting, with tons of V twin torque for a quick getaway if I misjudge and knock some car drivers mirror off..... I've since fixed the crushed exhaust and fitted a corbin seat, so it should be a fun bike, even if it's not the prettiest.......... ;D

Today I took the carbs back off the 77 Cb750f I have been working on, because two float needles weren’t sealing and they were overflowing.   Some crud got in there .  And then I popped out the little square piece that holds the ball bearing down in the accel pump base.  And if flew across the garage and disappeared.  Seriously magical .  An hour crawling with bright lights = nada.

Wrap a nylon stocking over a vacuum cleaner hose and vacuum the garage. If its on the ground you have a good chance finding it

Oh, I see. No they didn't strike me as especially stiff, but these bikes aren't exactly plush.  Like Terry says, I have some Konis for it.

Started another head project. A good looking CB750 K6 head in need of ports and chambers clean. IN valves look good, EX valves had some issues, one bent another dimple in tip. I have almost new Ex valves to be fitted.
Cleaning, lapping valves and maybe machining the surface to ensure flatness.

Had a productive morning so far. I went to NAPA and picked up the missing coil side terminals so that I can complete the install of the Accel coils. Forgot that I needed to check my stash of spare plugs at home for the screw on tops to work with the plug side of the Accel wires. I got the tires mounted on the Lesters (side note, man do I miss MotoGuild and its hydraulic machine) and fixed the seat lock. I hit the hardware store for new mounting screws since I managed to lose the originals and also some supplied to finish up the tail light.

I don't have a hard deadline, but I missed a lot of riding time last year not getting my 550 sorted. There are a bunch of local and Midwest events that I want to attend starting in mid-April and I have a 2 week trip I am planning for the end of June/beginning of July.

3rd year in a row, I ended up going to Daytona w/o a bike,.............ain't gonna happen again.

Have to get these 2 SOHC/4 puppies figured out by next year and get a trailer by May.

This is just plain ridiculously lazy on my part.

Today I replaced the Clubmans I've had on my bike for decades with some drag bars that came with a CB400 basket case. The drag bars put the grips about 3" higher and further back; it's hell getting old. ;) I had to reroute the throttle cable, and rotate the upper banjo at the master cylinder. While I had things apart, I also modified the 1/4 turn throttle tube to give a more progressive action by cutting a "ramp" or cam where the cable wraps around. Hopefully, this will make low throttle openings less sensitive than they are now.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I really liked the M bars I had on my 550.

I had drag bars originally on the 550, but changed to superbike bars for my bad back.  Not much more pull back, but just that little bit more rise.

Are superbike bars and euro bars the same animal? It's been around 10 years since I ditched the stock mini apes and the ones I put on are called euro bars. I wouldn't want any bars lower than those.

I tried to troubleshoot why i dont have spark in my 2/3 point therefore not giving me spark to the 2/3 coil and therefore no spark to the 2/3 spark plugs.

See my post for particulars ....but I'm stumped! HELP!

Rode her 300 miles from Belgrave to Orbost, the long (and my god rough) way
Last night finally finishing installing new coils, leads and plugs (i was using the crimp connectors wrong first time around)
Retimed her while I was there and most of the day she was a rocket ship!
Now..., bogs and misfires while taking off and occasionally under heavy throttle  on the road. No lack of real power, maintains 75mph super easy.
Any ideas? I checked my plug leads were on good, seem ok. Im gonna pop the points cover off after my pub dinner and have a lookey loo.

Any othee things that can casue it? Dont tell me my new coils are deae :(
