no kit just the "make your own aluminum furnace" off Youtube. supplies bought at Home Depot
the Petrobond sand from Ebay
a few trial and errors with making the moulds to make sure the aluminum fills all the way

saw on youtube under (black bear projects) "make special parts for your motorcycle" and it looked easy enough

Thanks for the info.........did look it up, seems easy enough.

I used to work in a foundry, quality control.

Changed my fork oil and replaced fork seals finally! Haven't done it since buying my CB550 last year and only god knows when the PO changed the oil last. My mind was blown when I pulled the forks apart and found a ton of sand inside the fork tubes!

The brown seat covers never really appealed to me but it works well with this bike’s color. Nice looking bike.

Thanks. I get a lot of compliments. It kinda annoys me because I think my other bikes are just as nice. Like this one:

Well my poor old Yamaha FJR1300 has been off the road since 2016 when I forgot to pay the registration fee but continued to ride it for another 4 months until I discovered my error. No biggie, with 15 bikes, there's always something to ride, but a few months ago I did some catchup maintenance replacing the rear disc brake rotor, pads, front brake pads, plugs, thermo fan, cooling hoses, plugs, air filter etc.

As it was just coming into winter I took it for a ride, called it good, then as I had to make room for my son's new Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, I left it in the driveway under a bike cover. Not ideal, but as it was winter, I wasn't worried about the sun bleaching the exposed paint and plastics. Now that we're in early Spring, I decided to ride it over to the self storage place where I currently have 3 other bikes. Of course, being such a nice day I took a 100 mile detour to give the battery a good charge. Great day!

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I went to a leather craftsman and asked how much it would be to make a small side bag. He said $500. I laughed and walked out

I went on ebay and looked up "womens shoulder bags" and got the one you see on my 500F. Chopped off the straps and voila. I think it cost $50.

Ive got a "coach" brand womens handbag (from ebay as well) on my 750 seen here. Cost even less, about $30.

Realized that the fuel lines involved with the RS34's are different than the 5.5mm Honda lines. More hurry up and wait. Nothing accomplished today other than Amazon ordering.

I have been playing with handlebars to get a more comfortable riding position.  The Dunstall clip ons put too much pressure on my wrists.  I tried drag bars first.  The riding position was ok but the master cylinder is right on top of the fork cap.  The turning radius is also limited by the fairing.

Then I tried Laverda Jota adjustable handlebars.  These are copies of the original Brevattato handlebars.  They are pretty nice.  I have them in a good position that puts my hands higher than the clip ons but at about the same angle.

Next up is to ditch the cheap mini gauges and install a racing tachometer.  The Krobers look nice.

CB550 Head leak after only 5000 miles. Has anyone used a RTV sealant applied to the `o`` rings, and which one and did it stop the leaks?

Silicone sealer can introduce more problems if squeeze out breaks off and blocks an oil passage.
Hondabond or Yamabond can be used on the pucks to help seal them.

Often the head gasket is thicker than original (when compressed) leading to oil leaks. The o-rings can then be undersized and not seal.
Mark, HondaMan, and others have written about this problem. Even the pucks from some sources are not thick enough.

Milling the head 0.020 can compensate for this issue, or source thicker o rings.
