Steve-o, Nice upper triple and clamp.  Keeping it that way in and around the bar mounts are small pita but can be done.  I deal with that.

On the ignition thing, is the frame similar to the 750 up in that area?  I dunno, me thinkin' it is not.  Prolly can't mount it the same.  Can you move it a bit lower down the frame and turn it around to the back side of the frame to get in somewhat the same location as the 750?

Tews - The upper triple comes off easy with a rubber mallet. I had a replacement part waiting.

Really? - The frame is differant. I thought about moving the bracket too, but I don't have much slack in the wiring to move it down any more.

As promised, I pulled the head on the XL250.  I couldn't get the head off so I pulled head & cylinder as a unit.
I had to get creative in figuring out a way to separate the head without damaging the fins. It was truly stuck tight.

Ring gap?  Check!  Yeah it's got some! :o
No wonder it smoked like a 2-stroke...
I measured everything I could and it looks like I'll be able to just have it bored .25 over.

Then I broke out the K5 and went for a ride.   :D
I should have brought my gloves, it was a beautiful day but it was a little chilly.

I got the brakes bled, reinstalled the Gordon frame kit and placed my newly repainted tins on so I can get an idea of what the finished product is going to look like.  Thanks again to Larry (nvr2old) for the awesome paint job...

Now I just have to wait for my new sprockets so I can complete the 530 chain conversion, then I get to start tuning the 915.. ;D

Also reloated the ignition switch under the tank with a 750 bracket I had laying around but don't really like it. Suggestions?

How about putting one for the 500/550 on.  It installs behind the front frame rail on the left side just under the tank.  There should be a bracket for a bolt to go through just inside the frame.

+1 MJ, the (early?) 500's had one under the tank that used a coil mount bolt.

Thassa beautiful "F" Tweako, you've done a brilliant job mate, and that paint job is outstanding! Are you using a Cyclex 915 kit? If so, what's the quality like, I'm about to order one for my K1? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks to all of you for the compliments!  This build has been a labor of love.

Terry the cycle X 915 kit is top notch.  Wiseco pistons, super nice sleeves and you don't have to bore the cases.

Hey thanks mate, that's what I was hoping, and if they're Wiseco's, they must be pretty good. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Sunday I bled the brakes after rebuilding the front brake system and it worked great.  Only problem was the squeking that will drive a porpoise to suicide.  Looked on the forum and cut a line on both pucks.  Used brake lube on both puck backs and the barrel of the movable side.  Put it back together and at least right now no squeak.

Removed the forks and dissasembled them. Washed everything in await for my new tubes from cycle-x! Should be here tommorow. Seals were harder than I thought to remove. Once one was out the second was easy.

Update. Fed ex came a day early!

Adjusted points, set timing, installed Hondaman ignition today.

Cut and installed 3/4 inch fork spring spacers, new plugs and resistor caps yesterday, and rode a little since it was 55 degrees here in IA.
