Replaced both tires in the garage last night.  It was my first time and it took about two hours to get them back on the bike.  New rim strips, tubes and tires.  Hopefully I did good and dont go out to see a flat tire.

Not on my bike, but on Dagersh's CB750F1 -

Went on my first ever ride on American roads for an hour - just brilliant!

Next trip is later today - a tour of the Catskills.

What a holiday. ;D ;D ;D

750's new rear mounted and ready to ride now. Tomorrow will give her a bath for the first time since I bought her. Lots of frustrating moments with her..

Machined a new starter button for my 350f out for nylon at work. Just need to press in the brass pin from my old button that fell apart and should be working again this afternoon!

...was a long day! cleaned the breaks and a bunch of small parts with ultrasonic, removed the broken oil tank and put an good one on plus new screws, a set of good side covers, checked the others K2 electric and after the work I took my first K2(red one) for a ride  :)
Re-polished the covers, was not satisfied with the finish I did yesterday.

Well it was yesterday actually, but anyway, my 1980 Suzuki GS1000E is finally (legally) on the road! When I still had my GS1000S Wes Cooley Replica I could occasionally still ride this bike by "borrowing" it's plate, but for the last couple of years since I sold the "S" it's been sitting, parked in the back of my garage gathering dust.

It had an ignition problem which I eventually fixed by installing a NOS Martek 440 ignition and new Dyna coils and leads, so I decided it was time I had a "roadworthy inspection" done, and with the certificate in hand, visited the local "Vicroads" (DMV) office and got a club permit for it, for around 68 bucks.

The sun was shining yesterday, so I took it for a ride. I've dumped the old fuel and fiilled it up with nice fresh gas, but it's still running a little rich down low. I stopped to take these pics and heard a helicopter above, and realised that it was the police. Lucky for me, because this road is where I normally do my "speed testing", which I did once the chopper had flown away, and I saw 220 KPH (136.7 MPH) before I ran out of road.

Not necessarily the smartest thing to do though, when I had the roadworthy inspection done the tester suggested that I replace both tires, as even though they're like new to look at, they're apparently "out of date", and the chain and sprockets are a little tired. Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so all in all, I had a great ride. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Nice looking bike Terry, what's a "club permit" is that some sort of limited use permit?

It is a permit that allows an Aussie to carry a club to mash anyone that messes with their bike :P ::)...Larry

Ha ha, very good Larry, but the answer is that a club permit (as BB suggests) is a limited use permit that allows members of motorcycle clubs (I'm in the BMW Club) to ride bikes older than 25 years for either 45 or 90 days per year.

In the past you were only allowed to ride your bikes to club activities, but that has since been rescinded, and you can now ride your bike where-ever, whenever.

I've got a club permit for my BMW R100RS as well, and I'll get one for my CB750K1 once I rebuild the engine. It's a great system, in previous years I've paid full registration (almost 600 bucks per year) just for my 750, but with the club permit system I can get a club permit for a tenth of that price, thus allowing me to put more of my bikes on the road. No more dusty statues of motorcycles taking up space in my garage! ;D

I popped my 3,000 mile tune-up cherry. ;D Tappets confused the #$%* out of me, but I got it eventually. Tomorrow we find out how badly I screwed it up when the new spark plugs go in.

I spent five hours in the saddle of Dagersh's CB750F riding through the Catskills - frackin amazing.

Almost as good as sitting in a 1960 Cadillac convertible fitted with a steampunk kindle holder, reading the contents of a shampoo bottle whilst rubbing one out and packing a lip. ???

(This last sentence was dictated to me as I sit and type this by a group of drunk Americans at a BBQ).

I think I am getting the hang of this country. ;)

I ordered lots of ($$$) parts from
http://www.wemoto.com/
http://www.vintagecb750.com/

Tomorrow even more from http://www.cmsnl.com/
My credit card is very warm!

Soon time for putting things together, now just appart and spending money.... I can get a very good working bike for the money I have spent to get my bike back to the road again. But I want my CB750 SOHC.
No modern bike from 80's, 90' or even from this millenium!
(Except for a newer MV Agusta Brutale or similar for a huge amount of money)

Been cleaning out my garage top make room for my new to me parts for the 750. While on vacation I was scouring CraigsList and found a smoking deal on some parts not to far from where we were vacationing in Knoxville Tn. The parts are a titled 76 frame that has been de tabbed, fiberglass cafe seat pan, alum.tripple trees, new shocks, new fork tubes, a nice gas tank and a Dresda style boxed swing arm from Carpy. It was on C/L for almost a MONTH before I answered the add. Who Knew? He started out at 600.00. All I wanted was the swing arm. I thought it was an extended but its not,its stock length about 20 inches. He said he wouldn't seperate it. He wanted to sell it as a package. I respected that and left it with him that the family and I would be in town for a week if he changed his mind. The price dropped from 600.00 to 400.00 for everything. So with an understanding standing wife and some time on the net to show her actually how much this stuff costs and what a great deal I was getting. She was sold! The only thing that didn't come home with us was the tank, no where to put it and it stink. Not sure what I am gonna do with it all, here's a pic sorry bout the mess!

changed carbs on my bike took it for a spin to the auto parts store and ran out of gas and pushed it 1/2 mile in 105 degree heat so now it's even a bigger piece of sh!t than what it was yesterday

Stripped the factory black paint off the CJ360T fork lowers. I was impressed how well the stripper worked. (Klean-Strip Strip-X Stripper.)
A little ancillary bead blasting and they were clean. Now I can cover them in paint again!
Then I broke out the K5 for the first ride in almost a month.  ;D

Well, yesterday I decide to pull those god awful loud Alphabet Headers exhaust off my 72 and put the stock pipes that I bought from Sean Barney.  They went on like a dream!  I had to raise my Vetter luggage to get them to fit. This then required that my Corbin King/Queen seat had to go ( the luggage rack hit the back of the tall seat).  So I put the stock seat from my '73 on, need to find a low back version of that Corbin seat, the stock seat sucks. >:(  Went to test her out and found that the bike wouldn't start with the kicker.  >:( Got her started with the electric starter and she would not move.  :o Exhaust sounded awesome tho.

So today I worked on the clutch and ended up pulling the clutch from the '73 and installed it in the '72.  She's all fixed now!  And wow, what a difference!  No more popping and gurgling.  No more ruff throttle in the midrange. And Quiet! :)  No more waking up the neighborhood at 4:30 - 5:00 in the morning.  And I can even hear the stereo when I'm running down the road. ;D

Here's some pics of what she looks like now.

After a month long saga, I fixed the electric start on my 1975 CB550K1.  Ordered a start button from Old Bike Barn that fits the CB750 and simply ground down the plunger and spring assembly a knats ass so that it would work on my 550.  Great fix for under $8.00.  Of course I used SOHC Forum intel to see me through this delicate process.

In addition, I took out the electrics panel and put di-electric grease on all of the box connections and broke out the dremmel and cleaned up all the ground locations on the bike (4 total).  Lastly, I replaced my turn signal relay (right winkers werent winking).  Sourced the relay from Advance Automotive for $4.49.  Looking for intel on how to bypass the buzzer.  MAN THATS LOUD!  Reminds me of the most annoying noise in the world depicted on "Dumb and Dumber".

Put a spash of Sea Foam in the tank and let her idle for 10 minutes and then put her back to bed for the night.  Tomorrow I will replace the shifter seal that has begun to leak a tad.

Finished off the gauges on my 500/4 restoration, it was a bit tricky placing the new gauge faces on but all went OK.Also fixed the worm drive on the odometer buy placing a bush on the drive axle. Hope it lasts.
