Tapered steering bearings installed with the new forks today.  Rolled it out into the sunshine...realized I'm going to thank myself later if at this point I just pull a few more parts off, mask everything else, and rattle can the frame.

I used Rustoleum oil based satin black and a quality natural bristle 1" flat brush and hand painted the frame on a Yammie DS6 I am restoring.  Worked real well -the paint levels out and in conjunction with the fine brush it looks good.  Saved an awful lot of time masking ...Larry

Yep, I've decided that I'm only going to touch up the original paint on my Honda XR500R's black engine and red frame, the paint has worn thru where the PO's boots rubbed against it, (or where it flaked off the magnesium covers) and as it's not good painting weather here, so I'll just touch it up and maybe strip it completely come summer. (6 months away sadly..........) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Now that's a pretty personal question.

It was minus seven Celsius in Canberra last week, around Terry's and my patch it drops down to four degrees Celsius overnight, we are too low for snow where we are.

Got my carbs back together after cleaning, with new o-rings and proper emulsion tubes from Harisuluv. Thanks again, James!  Installed on bike and went for a test ride with just a bench sync. Ran smoother and quieter than ever! However, #4 sounded a bit off. Will vacuum sync when weather cooperates and pop in some new plugs to see if that smoothes it out. Things are looking up!

Check the points gap, 2/3 need adjusting. Did this as per Hondaman's instructions in his book. Worked a treat. Then I hooked up the digital multimeter, put it around to Ohms to check the timing. This was done statically and when the reading on the meter when to 1 the point were open. 1/4 were good, slight adjustment for 2/3. Started the bike up, and checked timing again with timing light, spot on, checked full advance, all good there so job done. Bike sounded good. Now why is it that as the bike warms up the idle increases?

Take off the choke and turn out the idle set screw to lower the idle rpm after it warms up.

Awesome! I can't wait to dyno mine. A little behind compared to you, though. Starting the motor tear down today most likely. Bagging and tagging then finding the money for the 674 kit and finding a good machinist. Oh god this motivates me a lot!

No. Not many people still own them. Those who do only use them around the house. Gardning, taking away the trash. Also more often in villages not in the main city's
