Yep got nailed by one of those last second snipers Steve. Back when E-bay first started and there were no sniper programs which I still do not use, I had a stopwatch to use to get my last second bid in. Bet some other old-timers did also  ;)
That Corvette had some pretty rich history, sounded like a good solid car.

Actually, I was trying to be the last second sniper.  I set my max price and bid with 5 seconds left.  I felt the car was a good deal if it could be bought for $20K max.

I sent a text to the seller stating I was interested if the buyer flaked.   He responded, saying he hadn't heard from the buyer yet, so it may not be over!

Wow, sweet car for that price.  You should have gone higher and then driven it over to So Cal and sold it for $30k

Love the white top.

Obviously I need to learn how to respond withe quotes from earlier posts.

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Well I didn't drive the 400 miles home to Melbourne yesterday, instead I elected to stay in Canberra for the weekend. There was a ride organised by the FJR1300 riders group, but it got postponed until next weekend, due to crappy weather forecast for tomorrow.

Oh well, before I cold even go for a ride, I had to fix my tyre. Last week I picked up a sheet metal screw in my nice new Pirelli Angel ST rear tyre, and it was as flat as a tack when I went to go for a ride the next day.

No worries, I had this happen on the Bridgestone that was on it before I replaced it with the Pirelli, so once again, I bought a bottle Slime, dumped it in, pumped the tyre up, and......... it went down again. Problem was, the hole was up high on the edge of the tread and the slime was sitting in the lowest part of the tyre, so not enough would pool in the hole to seal it. Poop.

Jeff at Ace Motorcycles gave me a couple of the tyre repair plugs he uses to repair his customers tyres, but they aren't much use to me as the tyre has to be removed to install them. I remember seeing this vid of a guy fixing a tyre with a plugger kit, so I found one on ebay, and had it sent to my landlords address in Canberra.

So I gave it a try. Geez, what a great tool! I had it plugged and re-inflated in under 30 minutes! It comes with 15 plugs, which should hopefully be a lifetime supply, but extra plugs are available if you need them.

Anyway, now that it was all good again, it was time to try it out, so I decided on a ride to Goulburn for lunch. Goulburn is a 120 mile round trip via the Federal and Hume Highways so was a good opportunity for me to test the plugged tyre on reasonably good surfaces, as if the weather is gonna be good next weekend, I'll be doing the 800 mile return trip to Melbourne.

I had no problems, the big blue Yamaha went like a bird, and I had a great lunch at a Chinese Restaurant. It was the first Chinese restaurant in country New South wales I've eaten at that was good, if you're a visitor to Oz, the only decent Chinese restaurants are located in Melbourne or Sydney, or Goulburn. I also stopped for a pic of the bike beside the "Worlds Largest Turd", aka the Big Ram. Goulburn apparently has Australia's largest New Zealand expat population, and they erected  this monument to their favourite, er, pet...........

On the ride back I ran into a huge group of motorcycles, riding anything from Harleys to trail bikes and everything in between, then some vintage police cars from the 70's and 80's, then more bikes. There were over 100 bikes I reckon, but they were all sitting on the speed limit, and I like to ride fast, so I shot past them at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.

I waved to a few of them, but they looked a bit pissed off, which I thought was strange. I went past a couple of stationery highway patrol cars and of course sh1t myself because I was way over the limit, but funnily enough, they didn't chase me? Oh well, that was a good thing, but weird, just the same. Anyway, I got home after a lovely ride and was so happy that my tyre didn't explode, that I actually gave the bike a wash.

I'm sitting here watching the evening news, and have just realised that the heap of bikes I passed were all cops! Oops, turns out it was the annual "Ride of Remembrance" today, to honour our fallen cops. Hmmmnnn, considering that over 100 cops witnessed me riding at "go straight to jail" speeds today, and no-one locked me up, I am a lucky boy indeed! ;D

Raised my jet needles up one notch, and finally got around to installing the steering lock. It's sad how fast I can r&r these carbs now.

Installed a new chain and did the Ride for Autism Speaks Chicago today. About 1500 bikes, approximately 1450 of which were Harley's and one Honda SOHC4.

I didn't take any pictures because we have all seen plenty of Harleys. I will say that the mile long double line of bikes rumbling down the road was impressive.

I stopped on the way back to take a photo. This is called the Ghost Church, it's in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. Hispanic now (and a growing number of hipsters and artists), but 100 years ago it was a German neighborhood and this is what is left of one of their churches.

It must be a ghost church Danny, cos I can't see it! ;D

I spent the weekend building CB450 engines and getting my CB750 ready for the 2016 Melbourne Distinguished Gentleman's Ride next Sunday.

Always a hoot.

Yesterday I pushed the cb350f outside and put some gas in making sure of no carb leaks. A shout-out to the poster where in I had two of the 4 float bowl gaskets not wanting to stay put. I use the sugested scotch tape to hold and wd-40 to remove. Thanks again to the poster. I hope to proceed to fire up the bike later today.

A friend of mine just bought a 1973 GT750 and sent me a pic of the first start-up on his lift. All his smoke alarms went off freaking out his wife in the house and I could barely see his bike. Gotta love those smokers and be sure to point their ass out the door before starting----------------

My youngest nephew (just turned 11 I think) has been pestering me and his dad for the past couple years about how he really wants a motorcycle. Especially since he's been watching me work on mine.

Maybe next year you might be interested in selling that V65 Eric. If so, we should talk.

Bathed the carb bodies prepping to reassemble. Will wire and brush jets and install new gaskets. Simply greened the air box housing and replacing velocity stacks (new) from k3 originals. Guess I better order new points and condenser, already have new oil filter and o rings.

After finally buttoning up the 550 work I actually completed (not the stuff that still needs doing) rode it to work today.  Ran like a champ, so at least I know I didn't kill it. Thought maybe it was underperforming, then I realized yes, under by about 200 CCs.  Seems I've gotten quite used to the 750.

Dropped the rear wheel off with the shop to have a new tire mounted.  Got home and did a little more work to get ready for the weekend.
Loaded the saddlebags with spare goodies and tools.
Refreshed the fork oil.
Greased the swingarm zert.
Put my phone/google gps holder back on.
Routed the front brake hose better for the supersport bars. Tinkered with the caliper adjustment.
Adjust the a/f mix a smidge leaner.

A little search-fu with the correct part number will show you who's got them.  You need the 1/4 and the 2/3
HONDA Part number for 1/4 is 30203-300-154 it replaces 30203-300-005.
Be sure it says TEC or Toyo(Electronics Corp)
They come up on ebay all the time, but are usually pricey when NOS.
I prefer buying multiple used, complete points plates.  Far less expensive and many good usable parts.

Went and looked at a planet blue 1975 750 that a guy called me about. He could not send a picture but luckily it was only 22 miles away. Price was getting pretty cheap as I was walking away. Supposedly has a title. Anybody want to fetch it around the Battle Creek, Michigan area or want a few more pictures PM me and I will give you his contact info. Remember sometimes things look better in pictures but I have seen worse.  ;)   :)   Eric
