Deposited it back in my sister's garage after riding 1,996 miles over 12 days. Now it gets an oil change, a new tach drive seal, and a good cleaning.

Holy hell! Was this the first real road time with her? Not freaking bad if so!!!! Just under 2k..... You definitely are living like a wild man Danny!!!

I put maybe 200 miles on it at the end of last Summer when I first got it back on the road. But other than a 60 mile ride with Sean Barney at the Gilmore classic bike show in early June this was the first time riding it this year after all the work I did on it this Spring, which included the Lester wheels, a new exhaust, an F3 front end swap, a weldless frame kit, a new right side control, new tail light, and paint.

Bankerdanny,

Since you have run nearly 2000 miles on a oil change, have you found modern oils allow you to run longer between changes?  (1975 550 manual recommends 1500 miles.)  The reason I ask is that I recently did 2600 miles in three days without changing the oil.

Thanks for your observations.

You will like that voltage meter!
I mounted one on my K2 and can supervise how the charging system work and if it work.

When time to switch off lights to give the battery some extra juice.

I do think that modern oil and filter tech allows for greater intervals than what was recommended 40+ years ago. That said I do still tend to change the oil every 1500-2000 miles because it doesn't cost that much and, up to a point, more frequent changes is beneficial.

Installed new floats and found out my overflow tubes were cracked on three of four carbs.  Replaced with spares - one of which looked like holy hell and now only looks sketchy.

Got everything set up and back on the bike, got the idle close and started trying to synch the carbs when the brass tube split on the synchro tool. Oh well almost running. I'm going to try soldering up the tube tomorrow and I'll give synching another shot.

Pulled my 91 Suzuki GSX1100G out of storage Monday and brought it home to get some miles and a few tanks of fresh gas. Cleaned her up and flushed/bled the brake brake. Will give her an oil change soon also, takes around 5 1/2 qts !  For a 600+lb porker that 1127cc engine delivers an amazing amount of acceleration and grunt especially when that tack needle starts going over 5k and delivers a smile. Not much of a canyon carver though, more of a power cruiser.

Looking at replacing the oil pan after the PO must have used a breaker bar to tighten the drain bolt and stripped the threads in the pan.  The head of the bolt is completely chewed up. >:(  >:(

I brought it up to my garage storage space near home.

My buddy is getting antsy for the F3 I picked up for him last January. Other than starting it once, I have been completely focused on getting my bike ready for the recently completed trip. So last night I rented a MC trailer from U-Haul, grabbed his bike from the garage and hauled it down to my sister's and swapped it for my bike.

This is a win-win for me since now my bike is where can easily get to it and nothing that I need to do to it really requires the better equipped garage right now.

Hey Danny now that your bike is easilyaccessible---  Lets organize another SOHC rally  :)  And by 'lets' I mean you!  I finally got Dash road worthy again after the 2017 Rally and the additional 7,000 miles I put on him riding across country.  He is ready to be tested tomorrow (and break in the new rebuild) and once that verifies no leak then lets go across country one MORE time.   :-*

I would be willing to do that, but this time closer to Illinois so that I can get the East Coast and Midwest folks to attend. Maybe Arkansas. One of my fraternity brothers lives in Eureka Springs, in the NW corner of the state and based on my research it is supposed to have some great riding.

Removed the lowering blocks, lowered the front (scooted it up an inch through the triple tree), adjusted the chain, finished adding the new bars and routing cables through them, got the throttle set up nice, and then discovered my brake light was dead and raced to the AutoZone to get one as they closed.

After all that? I went on a nice little shakedown run where I learned that I need more speed and more mirrors and the horn is a secondary kill switch  ;D Oh and that I need to put the front fender back on.

Nice "press" laying next to that " bearing driver"😁. Don't you just love it when junk that has been clutter becomes useful?

I got super lucky with that one.

About 3 months ago I grabbed a couple of bits of pipe from a job site because I had none at all in the garage.

I agree it's normally clutter finally being put use, but this is a record for me from junk to tool..

Pulled my Honda 900F out of storage yesterday. Put in a battery and was surprised it started right up after sitting for a year or so. I had done some work on it last year and this year I had to fiddle with the rear brake caliper again today to get it unfroze.Running good and plan on getting a few tanks of gas through it this summer to keep it alive and give it a good cleaning. Has a little under 14,000 miles on the old ticker. Ridem' don't hidem' a friendly member here from Texas says !!

Here's mine. 9,000 miles

Long time coming. Rebuilt Cb400f forks with ttr400 preload adjusters on my cb350f. 4into1 caliper kit and stainless lines with a 1/2in ATV master cylinder. Customized Cb77 headlight bucket.

Need to bleed the brakes a little more and figure out a gremlin with the turn signal indicator- it only lights for one side.

Looks like some tasty mods. I like the little bags also. Nice to be able to keep the pockets empty but carry a phone, cigs, water or pop bottle etc..
