Lesters!! I've only been around a few blocks on them but feel vastly different than the stock wheels, I was quite surprised. The difference between 1.85 and 2.15.

Hello all, once again asking for some collective wisdom from the mighty sohc.net.

So here is the problem, as I am coming to a stop, the moment before the bike comes to a complete stop there is a shimmy/slight chatter coming from the front end. At high speed no problems, just that moment before stopping.

I recently swapped my stock wheels for Lesters and the problem started after the swap. I guess my thoughts are either a brake issue ( I have dual discs and maybe one of them is slightly misaligned now, or a pad is loose after the swap) or axl/bearing problem? The bearings did seem A OK. Maybe somebody out there has had this issue before and can say "oh yeah, this is your problem, I had the same thing"

The bike is the one in my avatar, '72 CB500.

Just read this thread.. and its amazing. Hope you get that wobble taken care of. I had that problem once but it was bad stem bearings.... But as far as your bike im not sure. Anyways good luck and greatbike

Can't blame loose spokes.  It's actually some kind of metallic chatter, not just a wiggle? Normally a misaligned disc would show itself at higher speed through lever feedback. I suppose if a pad or plastic washer (if you use them) wasn't seated correctly it could produce something wierd. Otherwise I've seen a slow wiggle produced when the tire isn't seated around the bead evenly, but no chatter there.

You probably should have replaced the bearings for your piece of mind and is one of the first things that came to mind.

Yeah, I forgot to add that if I come to a stop with back brake only, no funny business. I am going to put new bearings in these wheels when I get new tires put on, not doing it in the first place was probably a mistake. I just get so excited you know ?!?!

Nice build ! I am working in my CB500 as well very similar to what yours used to look like. Could you please let me know what rear sets did you get, or where to get them ?I will appreciated !

So it turns out it was bad rotors. Drilling them myself has been the source of a few problems. I threw another set on that weren't drilled/glazed. Chatter gone.

Bluegreen I recently bought a flexhone for rotors because the rotors on my racebike were badly glazed. I still had one thick spot on one rotor and these hones work very well. It takes a little effort to set them up correctly to follow their instructions but I like the results. The hones are not meant to remove much material, but they do a nice job deglazing and will work on "high spots" on the disc surface.

Bead blasting is a good way to deglaze as well.

Mine is MV Agusta as well.

This is the guy who made my fairing, he is awesome to deal with. From the time I ordered I had the fairing at my door in under two weeks from Holland at a very reasonable price.http://www.harrievanderkruijs.nl/interest.htm

I didn't lay the paint on, my dads talented friend did that, but I did the rest.

Step 1. Fill in all the pinholes.

Step 2. Primer/sealer

Step 3. Lay on the blue.

Step 5. Spend weeks agonizing over the stripe angle while the fairing is on the bike. Remove fairing take it 6 hours away from the motorcycle and make a really good guess as to where the stripes are situated.

Step 6. Tape off stripes.

Step 7. Spray on yellow

Step 8. Realize you forgot the stripe on the front between the headlights, curse, tape it off and spray yellow again.

Step 9. Marvel at how it looks like the Swedish flag...

Step 10. Spray clear

Step 11. I used 1/4" masking tape along the edge of the fairing and stripe as a guide for the pinstriping.

Step 12. Brush paint the inside black.

You can take a website that's portrayed in a foreign language and put the address in Google's page translator to get it to show in English.

Ha! Yeah it no doubt contributed. It was a good rip though!! We should go for another one soon, I've got zip ties.
