jet suppliers
« on: February 11, 2010, 05:49:29 PM »
As my bike is still in storage (1096.5 miles away) until this weekend (long weekend, just enough time to retrieve the bike, and my 1951 Singer sewing machine...) I've been plotting and schemeing the inevitable rebuild and hack job. Which brings me to this question. Said bike was put in storage many moons ago because a "professional" mechanic turned it from a one kick wonder with a dubious top end, into a barely running pig. Also, I now live at 6200 ft. So the carb tuning is probably way the hell off, which will doubtless necessitate many different jetting attempts. SO, is there a company that sells jets for something less than $6 a piece? And what jet type is required anyway? Sudco had picture guides, but my memory isn't that good.

Try those out (Stock was 105) at the altitude you are at- what altitude were you at previously?

Give it a thorough tune-up and plug chop it at the current settings to see where you are.

Was at sea level, basically. I think I had rejetted it to 105... mind this was back in '02. Not so much worried about what size, as where to get them. I live in non-biker BFE. Tons of quads though.
So, who sells jets cheap?

OR, who has the dimensions and prints for jets? I am a machinist... AND I have access to a cnc lathe... jet drills can't cost too much, can they?

I am interested too. Always wondered where to by just the jets, and not a full carb kit.

What is "98" or "120"? Don't suppose that is the measurment in thousandths... naw, can't see an 1/8 inch jet, that would be huge.

Dealer and cheap usually don't go hand in hand.

98 mains? 650's had 120 mains stock, 118 for nighthawks. At least with VB carbs.

I have looked at all these links and I have one question, mine are the screw in type but with a hex head. As I feel this is a rather basic question I'll slap myself for all of you but can I use the round head? I have not been able to find any of the hex head, anyone have an idea?

No. I think the hex jets have a smaller thread. I have the hex heads too. The link i posted has the hex jets.

What carbs do you have?

Just to add to the list of links, here's a post I just made in another thread:

Tom Summers, the admin over at www.hondachopper.com, sells jets for $10 per set plus $6 shipping:

Just checked z1 (thanks for the link) and they are cheap, but, Tommy isn't much more, and his shipping is cheaper. Think I'll probably go with Tommy, even if it is a little more, he hooked me up back when I first got this thing (Dyna & coils).
