interesting.... from what i have read so far they say that their customers service is top notch and very friendly but haven't heard anything about being hard to get a hold of. i know that retrosolultions is top notch and easy to get a hold of.

Hi all, I would like to do the hid conversion also, my question is, I have an H7 hid kit that a friend will give to me for free, does anyone have a diagram on how to make this work? If its even possible?  I have a stock 72 cb500/4

You could get a 7" H4 housing and modify the housing to accept the H7 bulb, or modify the H7 base to go into the H4 housing.

Which type of H4 headlight did you get? Was it one of the "projector" housings that is really made for a regular H4 bulb, or did you get just a regular old H4 housing without the "projector" lense?

i considered one of these, but i can't find any experience with them to see how well they work with an HID kit...  they seem to be more for looks, but i have no clue.  are the lenses made of glass or plastic?  and what's up with the reflector behind the projector?  does this actually serve a purpose for lighting?

The DDM HID kit is built to work with ordinary non-projector H4 lenses. The bulb assembly includes an occluding metal cylinder that blocks light in a certain way to (supposedly) achieve a decent pattern with an H4 reflector.

I just got my DDM HID 35w 5000 single kit in the mail yesterday. They are super easy to get a hold of, friendly and knowledgeable. The previous owner of my bike installed a Hella H4 lens which produced a good cut-off line. After I installed the DDM kit (which is incredibly brighter then the H4 55/60 bulb) I test rode it at dusk and then at almost midnight, getting on the freeway both times, testing different lane positions as well. Didn't have any oncoming traffic flash or honk, I looked for a glare in the vehicles mirrors I was following and didn't see any. The road I live on is not lit with street lamps and I'm blind so I usually have to hit the high beam, and the kit I am using is low beam only but the light output is just as good if not better I think.  So I have to say this kit does a great job with my old CB, for the money you can't beat it.

ya pics are crummy, im not the best photosmen. as far as i can tell it is a pure white light emitted.

I just happened upon this thread and it may have been mentioned already but the reason the cheap aftermarket HID kits blind the living crap out of people is because they do not have the focusing projector lenses (which is why you can be issued a fix it ticket as well).  I work at a auto parts store and have to explain this to the noobs on a daily basis.  If you don't have the projector lens to focus the bean all your doing is blinding your fellow drivers and riders.  Me personally I slow down to let them pass and then get behind the idiots and flip my high beams on for the next 5 miles.  I got nothing against HID if done properly in fact they defiantly do aid in driving in deer infested areas up north  .  But to all considering it who are gonna get the $35 yebay kits with out the projectors I say this... Don't be "that" guy yes you may impress your idiot friends but to the guys out there who know how to properly install a HID you look like a tard and the cheap kits can be spotted a mile away (literally in our rear view).  Besides with out the projector your just wasting the extra light as its defused all over the place and not focused into the place you need it... Like say along the path your driving

Never been blinded buy a Prius, or an Acura TL.  These are just 2 of the many FACTORY NON-Projector headlamps with HID lights.
Its not the projector lense, its where you point the light.....

Funny those both have a projector lens in them and their used ones off a acura tl's.  If you look in the right corner u can see them.

...and my friends '03 porsche C4S has HID and no projector lense either.

i will agree they are bright, and many are installed improperly.
we could probably debate the 'projector' point for days, but it comes down to others perception.
even with a projector headlamp, if they are focused upward, you're gonna get stopped and asked to fix it.

I completely agree that there are plenty that do this for bragging rights and blind oncoming traffic. and it does attract my attention when i see it for a split second and thats all it does. its more so distracting/ infuriating when some stupid giantass truck F950 or whatever is lifted with eleventeen fog lights coming at me even in the middle of the day. but to each their own right? anyways, I did my install wanting to avoid both and only attemtped it because my current headlight lens does have a cutoff line which appears to be present with the hid bulb as well. albeit not as perfect using a prjector lens, it does work. and if it causes someone to follow me and incite some pointless road rage, out it comes.....
