Quick Question... I asked previously how you would connect these, the easiest way looks like with the empty basis, but there are 2 different kinds BA15 Adapter and the empty base, Just trying to visualize how these would work for the two wires coming off the LED lights.

Well what I did which I think is the easiest was just replaced the wires coming off the LED strips with longer ones, put heatshrink tubing on them and brought them down into the headlight bucket and put bullet connectors on them and plugged them straight into the connectors on the harness. I brought the wires out through the holes where the bulbs would normally be in the gauge and used silicone to seal them which is easily removed if ever required. So I was just basically left with a gauge and two wires coming out of it.

That totally works.
I ised lamp bases so that I could take it on nd off, and maybe even resort it to stock without any trouble.

Not that I will restore it to stock after seeing it

No pics... but I actually didnt buy blank bases... I took my old bulb out, broke the glass and ground out all the shards and stuff with a little screwdriver. Then there were two small solder points that I wired her up to. One on the edge, one in the middle.

It is really easy if you understand even the most basic of circuits, which I imagine you do. Its just fine soldering. Red to the middle, Black to the edge... thoug I doubt it matters.

If I pull them out any time soon, I will snap a pic.

To replace the wires off the LED halos what would be the correct gauge wire? Thanks new with this electric stuff and figure i could use the wire info if needed when connecting the wire harness? I have a 1975 CB550

You wouldn't need very thick wires at all, maybe 18 ga at thickest. Those led's don't draw much current at all, so I wouldn't worry about using anything thick...

Inspired by this thread and my ratty old gauges, I laid into my own gauge project. Sorry - some of the photos are quite large.

Starting point:

Stripped and with LEDs epoxied in place. You can see that I just used one set of rubber light boots and ran the wires through a hole in the bottom. I soldered them up to the existing wiring and covered them in heat wrap as well.

Christmas presents from my wife!

Finished product. Joker Machine didn't send enough of those stupid gold allen screws so I'm waiting on 2 more for the tach.

And last but not least - night light.

Lookin pretty sweet, I like. Those clamps that bolt the gauges back together are pretty handy, makes it a lot easier than trying to get that chrome ring back on I'd say.

Looks cool and I do like their stuff... but good god their #$%* is expensive! $170 for two rings and two plates.... Just can't justify putting that on my old rat.

Is it blinding at night? I used those led halo rings in my Buell headlight and the leds were brighter than the HIDs. I hate having the cluster super bright at night, however I have a sensitivity to light.

Dunno yet. That's bench tested and attached to one of my Triumph batteries, since the CB750 is basically a pile of parts right now.

Mine are totally the perfect brightness.
As you can see, they are pretty close to the same brightness as my Neutral light....

I hate to bring up an old post, but I am about to dive into my gauges and I have questions about this base. I would like to pressume that you just plug the wires into one of the holes on the base, but I am not sure. I don't want to hack into my wiring and want to be able to keep the rubber plugs intact so this looks like the best fit for my application. Did anyone ever figure out if this is the correct blank for our bikes?

you need the BA9S base. it is a direct fit.
the one above is the BA15. (its too big)
superbright also sells ba9s bulbs that do a great job.

Well I ordered some 80mm rings for my 74 750K and they are too small. They won't fit around the trip reset gear. So I am going to try some 90mm rings.

And I didn't see any of the BA9S bases on super bright LEDs site.

On their site, search for universal led kit. One is included in the $14 kit...or you can order any $.50 ba9s bulb and tear out the guts and solder your own....
