Here in Colorado its not required and most HD rides do not wear them. It must fit the image, I would say 50/50 on crotchers.
I ride with a helmet 99% of the time, if I am just going around the immediate neighborhood steets trying to figure out a issue I may not slip one on. But any ride outside of that, I always put mine on. Why do I, well first and foremost, I think I look badass in my Cafe inspired bucket with my Snoopy googles.
But really, when you work in an ICU, you learn to live life to the fullest, but count your blessings you have what you have. I would like to keep my gray goo on the inside.
Not to go into it, but currently we have a 40 year old lady in my ICU, who got hit on a scooter witout a helmet. Needless to say, if she had any chance of recovery, she probably would have wished she wore her helmet.
But to each thier own, its a free state, not against the law, so if you don't want to wear a helmet, its your choice.
