I didn't get into vintage Honda's until I bought my '76 CB500T, since the DOHC engine evolved from the Black Bomber and it is the last of it's linage and the paint is Glory Brown Metallic, I thought Brown Bomber was fitting. It just so happened that my next bike was my '72 CB750K2 in Briar Brown Metallic, so I stuck with Brown Bomber.

NOMAD >>> reverse the spelling >>> DAMON

Damon was my dad's name.  He passed several years ago.  He's the one who put the CB750 bug into me at an early age.  So... the screen name is kind of a nod to him.

Ran with PiNcHeLoKo during the early AOL days when I hacked a bit. I had earned that nick.  Had latinas randomly IMing me thinking I was a Latino going by PincheLoco.

Then I became GigaWhiskey.  I earned that name.  I usually put away a 700ml bottle of Booker's (127 proof), a 1.5 liter bottle of some cheap bourbon, two nights a week in a club, 13 Bourbon n Cokes, 4 or 5 rumpleminze shots and a few Kamikazee shots each night - all in one week.  More if I could fit it in.

Now I am just TipperT - short for Tipper Turtle.  I basically just got tired of drinking and quit.  It is rare for me to drink anything alcholic now.  I made the name up to mess with the wife through email.  It stuck.  I have no idea why I came up with that one, lol.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

When I think of old bikes and racing etc,.. from way back when... I think of Steve McQueen...and he used to race under the name Harvey Mushman to try to be lower profile at races.

I lurked here before joining for a while and never gave a username a second thought.  Then when I decided to join, I couldn't think of a good name.  Eventually "soichiro" popped into my head (after Soichiro Honda, the man that started it all).  I was surprised that it was not taken.

Now though, I kind of feel weird about my username.  Going into a Honda forum with the name soichiro is like going into a church and calling yourself "god."  But I still can't think of a good username, and it also gets confusing when people get to know you as one name, and then you change it.  So that's that.   :)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Well.. when I started seeing your user name "Soichi" (that's the informal name that Japanese folks give to guys named that)..I thought it sounded fairly cool.

Kinda guessed though..that you were coining that from Soichiro Honda's name.  It's a fairly common first name for Japanese actually..BTW.  It's about as common as "John" or "Tom" would be in English.

You'll note my user name "Ichiban 4"..has that "Ichi" ordinal in it.  That is simply the Japanese word for one..often used as in "first"..hence the meaning of So-ICHIRO. [As I explained in my original post here..I use the Ichiban name..because that's the name of my business..but also..kind of like you..it's an honorific to the Japanese founders of Honda motorcycles].

BTW: just for general reference..the Japanese think that the name "Ben" is hilarious..as it's short for "Obenjo"..which means toilet..or literally "crapper"..in Japanese.  I always try to think of an alternate name for anyone named "Ben"..when I'm talking to Japanese.  Guess it's similar to someone who's name sounds scatologically related in English.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread..just got going here.  It's an old thread anyway..so guess there's no harm in going on a little..

Anyway..I suggest keeping the "Soichiro" user name..it's cool..I think.

Cheers..

Ichi
