WOW - negative Karma
« on: March 09, 2006, 09:28:22 PM »
I guess this is just a little rant.

How does a newbie get negative Karma?
I only have 20 or so post.
I think I mis-titled a post subject.
Doesn't being a "newbie" allow for at least one mistake?
hrmmm...

I guess not.

Most of the forum is extremely helpful,
and at least one is a very difficult person to please.

Well, thanks for the help - its really appreciated.

If it was me, I reckon I wouldn't worry too much about something that takes a single anonymous click of the mouse.  It don't mean nuthin' and may have been an accident.

Got to admit that I saw the Karma thing there but never knew how it worked...still don't as a matter of fact....

While I do believe in Karma (in day to day living) I don't suppose it matters a whole lot around here...though I could be wrong.

I have just sort of relied on reputation as a "who's advice do I take?" meter. Two Tired for example really seems to know his stuff and Bob W seems to know his way around carbs...Eldar has to know what he's talking about because he rides a K8  ;) ...that sort of thing...

Anyways, if you're gonna worry about Karma, I suggest worrying about it next time a waiter takes too long to bring the salad and you feel like tearing him a new one...

Just my 2 cents (and that's in Canadian dollars!  ;D )

OK, if you say so, but I think I find my way around carbs the way a blind man gropes around in a brothel.  ;)

I like that groping in a brothel image. Could be fun!

Actually Duster, I am glad you jumped in...I forgot to mention that I have used a few of your suggestions too..

Lord knows, it's impossible to list everyone that I have learned from because in a lot of ways I have learned as much from the guys who post the questions as the guys who answer them!

It's funny, part of why I have posted as little as I have is that my issues are the same as most of the other guys so before I can even ask it someone beat me to it.

This is the first board I have seen with the karma counter. Others without karma use post counts to eatablish a hierarchy of who is God or not. And a lot of wars have erupted over post counts. A lot of serious people in this world. ;D
You can survive with negative karma, but negative chi - well that's another story. ;D

You wanna up your karma count? Start handing out free sandcast parts - and stand back.

I reckon 400F owners should get an automatic 100 karma‘s for owning such a cool bike,  with a sliding scale down to zero, for the rest of the models in the range  ;D

Rules for Karma are here:  http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=6223.0

It's more a measure of how much other members appreciate your posts that of how many posts you make.

It's still a sort of trial and Glenn and the Mods will decide whether it's too much hassle to keep going (one day)

;D While not pointing at you at all dude, that's exactly what I mean (but tonque in cheek) Some boards the guys have 10,000 posts or so and are lucky to be able to breathe by themselves. But a lot of other guys worship the ground they walk on for the amount of times they clicked an "I agree" smilie or such profound insights. ;D

As I said, no pointing at you at all. :D

One board I frequent has removed the post counter and after three weeks the questions of where it has gone have ceased, but also the fighting and the "I agree" smilie useage has dropped considerably. Why click the smilie if it doesn't add to your personal hoarde. ;D

I have to agree with 6pk about there being too many posts with one words answers and only smileys - I mean what does this really contribute to the person asking the question or providing info on answering SOHC questions. Usually I find it a waste of space and just means more posts to wade through to get the answer you are looking for. Why waste your own time posting such posts....if you have the time go work on your bike or take it for a ride :-).

For all that the info on this site is second to none and I appreciate all thse that reply to my simple questions :-)

Have a good weekend,
