My CB picked up 3 extrs R's
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:30:39 PM »
Been looking for a newer rocket for a while and this came up today. It was a fair price to begin with but I got him down to 3400$, probably because he has 2K in legal fees from tickets.  ::) Is owned by a college student so its dirty.

Its not perfect, been dropped on the left and probably a lower speed slide on the right via the peg and fairing. 9K miles. Has all service records. I was the first to call when he listed it so I have to make a decision while he is on the hook.

I am debating if I can over look the damage... What do you think?

fwiw, find a nicer one on craigs list. They're up  often.
If they been down, they are probably somebodys wheelie/stunt machine. I bought an 08 new and love it. They are great bikes.
Clean ones are out there tho, so be selective. good luck with it.

If you have to pay the $2k absolutely no way should you buy it.

Here's the recent comparable sales from sold cbr600rr's on ebay:
http://motors.completed.shop.ebay.com/Motorcycles-/6024/i.html?LH_Complete=1&_nkw=cbr600rr&_dmpt=US_motorcycles&_rdc=1

There are several that got lots of bids but didn't sell because the reserve was too high, set by the seller who misjudged the market.  Those bids tell you what the market is willing to pay.
There's an immaculate 2007 that has never been down, really low miles (8k) and sold for $3725.
There's a 2006 cbr600rr that only had 780miles (under 1k miles) that was listed at $3400 and got ZERO BIDS.

I would pass.  Young dumb kid who wrecks a late-model bike also is too dumb to be realistic about a selling price imo.

Yup, I offered 2 something and told him if not I would have to pass. I did not realize they were going for those kind of prices  :o

Judging by the size of his chicken strips, the bike spent most of it's life straight up or completely on its' side.  :D

Never got a call back on that. I think (parts wise) I like the GSXR's better anyways.

Still on the hunt for a 04+ GSXR. Anyone got one collecting dust?

Cracks me up how some of these young bucks buy these supersports and never learn how to turn the damn things in a corner.  ::)

Not bike wise, but I certainly need to go. There are tons of good roads. I have started to take some trips to eastern Az and have found a lot of cool places where it is just blank on the map.

College town, every chad bro chill got a gixxer brah', and they always want a 1000 because the 600s "dont have enough power"  ::)

I am still looking for a bike, I was heart-breakingly close to an 06 CBR1000RR with 4000 miles for very very cheap. He let it sit for a year and the gas tank fuel pump and probably injectors were gone but besides that it was pristine. He owned money on it and it would have been a win win situation for everyone except his wife freaked out that he was selling it "at a loss." (you already lost your money when you let it sit, one way or the other) All hope is not lost because he is not going to pay the 3 grand to get it fixed. Still holding on that one...

But if anyone knows of a newer 600 or 1000 CBR or GSXR for a decent price, let me know!

Been looking for a while, looked at what felt like a thousand bikes. Went and looked a bike tonight and made the deal, I am picking it up tomorrow. It even turned out to be the same year, 06 CBR600RR in pristine shape with 7000 miles.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Only bad part is it happens to be the worst color they made (tribal orange broseph') but I can trade or find some new plastics. I am not going to get too excited until the title is in my name tomorrow. But maybe just a little.  ;D ;D ;D

Keep in mind that you can rest assured that this bike has been ruthlessly and completely flogged for all of the 9000 miles that are on the possibly original odometer.  What could go wrong? Buy it.

Not necessarily.... I'd say a good half of the people who buy sport bikes get scared of them and either don't ride them, or don't ride them hard, just cruising around looking cool. Then there are guys like me... But as long as the maintenance has been done and everything checks out, it'll run like a clock.

Claimed 118 so probably around 105 at the wheel, 361 pounds dry.

I doubt the PO flogged it much. I am going to have to do something about the plastics.

As for how it rides,  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I actually like those plastics.   :-[

I have an orange '08, not the tribal though.  I love the bike.  I believe the '06 was the year they first inverted the forks.

Whatever you do, stay out of the 600rr.net forum.  It's full of douchebags, and every single one of them hates my guts.  ;D  Plus, you won't really find any good info there you can't find elsewhere.  It's not a forum like this one.

Ive seen those dynoed with as much as 114 @ the wheel, stock. Usually 112 though. Funny, the one that dynoed @ 114 went to a little girl who probably only wanted the bike to make her look sexy(er... she was already pretty hot). She already had the matching jacket and gloves before she had found the bike. Made for an easy sale for me!

Either way its FREAKING FAST.

Its not the color I really hate its the tribal flames. They are just stickers on the fairing so I could peel them off but I am going to see if I can trade someone across for plastics. After market kits range in price but would run about 500 bucks. I hope an insurance job comes in the shop where I could get a set of barley scratched take offs.

One thing I really liked about the 04-05 GSXR's is that they worked really well (and easy) for a streetfighter. If you notice the tank goes over the frame and the edge looks goofy and flat when not connected to the fairings. The reg/rec. would also stick out goofy along with the wiring for the gauge and lights (the GSXR just has one plug)

It is insane how stable and smooth it is at 40 or 120.

I am trying to figure out what is next, slip on? Levers?  ;D ;D ;D
