Name that TUNE....

Lets see if anyone wants to play, if not, I will nuke this in a few days..
 Main Rule, no cheating, no online searching..
Big age spread in this group, so someone should get it, name artist and song..
 If not solved in a couple days, provide answer.. clues along the way, or more lyrics may help..
 Solver, does the next one..

Let me get this straight.  You're asking a bunch of people on an internet forum to not cheat and use the internet to get the answers, without any real way to prevent that.

Yup on both counts. Linda Ronstadt's cover of "Willing", on her 1974 album "Heart like a wheel", was probably better known.
