Great pictures and an amazing build Brent, looks like the ultimate class legal CB. You might need help in the pits, someone to start the bike, warm up engine maybe do a "sighting lap" to get the tires heated? I'd ah...like to volunteer! Can't wait to see the dyno numbers. The bike is beautiful in that purposeful way of a pure no compromise race machine.

why didnt you use the suzuki discs that are already light and thin? that's one tip i picked up from your street 550

Thanks fellas, as it nears the end I can say that I look forward to getting in the shop every night.

Mike, don't need to tell you most of any power increase will be as a result of your massaging. For those who haven't seen Mike's work, consistancy comes to mind. Each port is uniform, very nice touch indeed.

TG, it always comes back to "in period". I have a pair of Suzuki rotors and it sure would have been easy, but they weren't used until the eighties. That's partly why I kept whittling weight off the Honda pieces to try to match them and at 1.64kg these are even a tad lighter. I'm a bit worried about cracking between the groove and that single closest hole....will keep an eye on it.

Brent is in good physical condition with no excess fat on him. That will certainly help in regard to the bikes quickness and speed. Lots of big guys in vintage classes it seems. I know a fellow member, gene Duffy, took second place overall at the end of last season racing his CL175 (his first season racing too!). It didn't hurt that Gene weighs about 150lbs with his pockets full of rocks.

that's a very good point you bring up. You see allot of photos of a nicely turned out bikes with two cows worth of a leather clad human stuck on top. Good to hear all his hard work is not going to waste.
You've done a beautiful job, you should be one very proud lithesome builder.

It's been a while since Mike & I have been together and in the meantime I've "swollen" a little.

Pressure/frustration & weight gain go hand in hand with me as I've struggled to find a way to change my life... forward. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

So haill, lithesome is a stretch, but all is not lost. I'm down twenty and will be back to fighting weight (180-185) by the time I crawl back into leathers.

I'll be knocking on 56 by the first race weekend and I'll never claim to be the fast guy anymore. This project is about much more than that.

I'm not sure about 2011 Mike, but USCRA classes seem to parallel the VRRA and they race often at Louden. It's not Bryar Motorsport Park anymore but it would be fun to race there anyway and that'll be an easy ride from Ashland.

Any thoughts on this fairing? Gotta admit it's growing on me some.

Your right Brent. Sometimes I miss the old dump. Some very fond memories.

Lookin cherry, indeed! The unveiling of this beauty’s been worth the wait.

As so many have already commented on the attention to detail, I especially like the way you mounted your rear-sets and the cool chin spoiler.
The more I pour over the pictures the more I find.

I like half fairings too, but this picture makes me think a smaller fairing would really set it off.

Well just in case you do need spares, you can always prove that The original bembo discs (that were used with your 05 calipers) used on small guzzis, morinis, etc in the 70's were of one piece construction, just like the suzi discs, so these would be definitely period. can supply you the evidence if you ever need.

I need 4 Dzus fastener springs, and it's proving tough finding them, some come in a kit, most are the wrong size. These are 1"x 0.220 rise, anyone know a good place to turn?

That would be cool TG, those would be iron rotors?

have to check really. the ones on guzzi V50's always looked to me like some sort of thick sheet stampings like the suzooks, just not not stainless. but this is just to say that the suzuki ones should be kosher from a "preiod" pojtn of view. get the undrilled ones and drill them with an old pattern rather than nodern slots and they wil look the part me thinks

FJ, fairings in racers are actually supposed TO DO something like improve aerodynamics and give you a break from the blast in the straights...

Try Levens in Toronto for the Dzus springs. It they have what you need I can p/u and mail them to you. - tt
