Current pics of the bike. I finished up the handle bar swap. Not sure how everyone says they hit the tank. I can turn them full lock both ways and don't come close to hitting the tank. That's good news but the bad news is I just noticed my upper triple tree is cracked. Not sure when it happened but I'm pretty sure it's when I removed and reinstalled the forks. So now I gotta change that out. Opinions on what to swap it out with?

Do you have spacers in the upper clamp? Guessing no and you over tightened, a common mistake.

No there were no washers or spacers when I loosened them up to drop the forks so yea I over tightened them I guess. Never would have known. Doesn't surprise me though with this bike.

Wont fit a 750 but its gone now. Pretty sure it would fit 350 twins and fours as well as 250 twin.

I fixed the triple tree and I'm trying to finish up the wiring from the bar swap. I had marked everything before pulling the wires through the factory bars but I had difficulty pulling them through on the left side (sitting on the bike). I had to cut the wires losing all my markings on that side. I was able to wire up the right side and I think I got everything wired up correctly on the left side too because for the most part they are all color coded (if that's how they are wired I'm good there). However I have a white wire and a blue/white wire coming off the left side handlebars that I don't know where they go. If I can get that right I'll be back to where I was when I started. And at that point I didn't have a headlight that was wired up so I would then need to know what wires to use to wire up the headlight. My new headlight has a blue, white and a green wire.

I caught a mistake I said those leftover wires came off the right side I meant the left side which had double the amount of wires on that side.

Well I have low beam but no high beam can't figure out where the blue wire goes. I've tried a few places and still nothing. I also don't know where that blue/white wire off the left side handle bar goes. I don't have the actual turn signals hooked up but the dummy light don't blink when it's turned on. I did hook up a two wire signal in the rear and it didn't blink just slowly came on dim and stayed that way until I turned it off. Tried reversing wires same thing. The speedo light comes on but the tach light does not. Horn works. Dummy lights work. Low beam headlight comes on. Starter does not turn over but I think the battery is weak.

Yea I know man it really ticked me off I had to cut all those wires and lose the factory connections. I'll do it right when I figure it all out cause I'll want it to look neater when I start making things look pretty. Those connections is just what I had at home.

BTW that blue wire I'm holding is from the new headlight trying to figure out where to tie it into the harness. I know it's the high beam wire I'm just lost on the instructions I guess. Just not seeing it yet.

I fixed the tach light that was my fault by thinking I could bypass the junction of brown/white wires and tie two together separate from the junction.

I charged the battery over night it's still weak but I did get the starter to turn the motor over a few times. It was weak months ago when I had it running so I would kick it over. That's back to where I was at least. Feel a little better.

So right now I THINK my only issues are the high beam and turn signals.

I'm about to put gas in that tank for the first time, hook up the fuel lines and try to kick it over and see if it runs again and go from there.

I'm just hoping something is not wired correctly because I feel that black and white wire coming off the handle bar is fine. Could be wrong but those wires were easily pulled through the bars and the switch housing looks unharmed.

Huge thanks to calj737 for all of the hours helping wiring up this bike after the handle bar swap. A little setback on the tank but I'll get that back looking good again and finish the build.

OK so I ended up with a different tank all together from the one I started with. I'll end up painting it at some point but it was too tempting to hook everything up and ride it.... for the FIRST time since I've had it almost a year ago.

Great job on the bike.

Please, please though put on a helmet. We've recently lost a member of this forum to an accident where he wasn't wearing a helmet; we don't want to lose another one who has the talent you have!
