My 73 barn find with 15k original miles!

So I've started a couple threads asking a few questions but haven't started a build thread. Well long story short I drove 10 hours round trip to Mississippi a block away from the beach to pick up this 73 CB750K sitting in a shed not running owned by a toothless crack head. Well.. not sure about the crack head part but his teeth looked like corn nuts pushed into bubblegum and how that stack of boards and bed sheet curtains they call a house survived Hurricane Katrina I have no idea. The bike looks to be in decent shape though considering but since I brought it home I'm starting to discover a few problems but that's to be expected right? I immediately took that hideous front fairing off, cleaned the meth off it and started working to get this thing running and back on the road.

She looks good, once you stripped the ugly off of her.  I am surprised you didn't want to keep the Windjammer fairing, paint the whole bike purple and go for the Prince Purple Rain theme!

Any particular plans for your "build"?

I'd really like to keep it close to original as possible for a short period to ride it to a few places to recreate some old photos from the 70s of my Dad's bike where I grew up. Once I'm over all that I'll start modding it. Not 100% sure what direction I wanna go in yet. I've had the Honda chopper, the Harley bobber and the Harley bagger before this bike so I wanna do something different. I do like the look of "old" and "vintage" that we can be sure of. I took my brand new 2011 Nightster and made it look old.

The funny thing about that Sportster tank is I purposely stripped and aged that tank to have an old rusty vintage look and here I am owning an old vintage bike with a rusty tank wishing it was brand new.

That was a pretty solid makeover on your Nightster.

Something old and different.  Perhaps a vintage flat tracker -- but that would be one hefty flat tracker -- or a scrambler style bike?

When I saw you sitting on your bike,  I thought you would be taller or maybe older.  My grandson loves sitting on my bikes.
Looks to have most on the good stuff, airbox, signals, ect . Good buy and have fun in the shed!

That's the #1 carb and it looks the worse. The others have some minor pitting in and around those same areas but not split like this one.

Before I spend money on a tank I'd still like to hear this thing run and using the cheapest route. I think I saw someone hook up a small temporary gas tank just to hold some gas. What would be a good suggestion on this? Sounds obvious but I'd like to hear ideas.

Here's a photochop I made of a CB750 and Harley Davidson. If those two bikes were to have a kid together this is what would come out... a badass custom bagger!
