I couldn’t help myself, I sent the owner of the TS400 an offer of $1200. He said “No thanks” and relisted it when it ended with no bids. Two days later he sent me a message saying he’d take $1300 and a case of beer, so I said, “sure”. I need another bike project like I need another hole in my head, but heck, I do like big two strokes…. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks David, how many years did it sit outside? Probably most of them, looking at it. The seller rang me, he's a good guy, he's told me what a pig it is, and he said that rather than me agreeing to buy it sight unseen, I should come over and take a look, and he won't be offended if I don't buy it.

The plan is that I'll drive over to his place tomorrow afternoon (I'll drive my little truck) and if it's not beyond hope (and I have very low standards...) I'll buy it. It won't be a priority project, but they're pretty thin on the ground here (he has another one, in much better condition) so it still might be a good pickup. Interestingly enough, there are a lot of "crossover" parts between the TS400 and T350/500, so the speedo and tach, for instance are identical, and by chance, I have a spare set, so that'll save me a few hundred bucks alone. If I buy it....... ;D

Yeah, that's pretty hideous CycleRanger.  I have saved a lot of bikes "like that".  They are often a good buy as long as the PO didn't have as bad "mechanical taste" as their cosmetics.  Still no shortage of bad taste customs and way out of style mods here in Michigan.
If it works good, it looks good...

Got a couple of teaser pics of a possible K5 750 in the background. Wonder if that one is next up to get mutilated.

I guess the 250 is wearing a now-unavailable conversion from blue collar bobber or something....

I hope they have something better in mind for the CB.

That's a 7.5 gallon first generation Kawasaki Concours gas tank on the 250 Ninja cafe racer. That thing should have some serious range.

I think you're right. I've got one for one of my 250 Nighthawk projects, I'm thinking 500 miles between fill-ups. I'm hoping I can make that bike comfortable enough to ride that far without fuel stops. It's gonna need a custom rear sprocket....

500 miles at average of 60mph is gonna be over 8 hours...
I would not be able to stand upright after that much time in a car, much less on a bike.

All very true. I'm probably over estimating but it'll be fun to find out how far I can go before I begin to regret it. I've got an old Corbin seat from Ninja that mates up to that tank pretty well.  Making the bike comfortable enough is going to be the hurdle, otherwise stoping for comfort but not fuel will be the order of the day.

I like it Jim, and Spotty would love it, he's a scooter guy, which is an abomination in itself as he's 7 feet tall, so looks like an elephant fcuking a football on his 2300cc Triumph Rocket III. ;D

That was a great deal for you John if I recall, you bought a sweet chopper, and got a low numbers sandcast thrown in for spares! I wish I could find deals like that here. ;D
