Thanks, I'll try that on my way home.

When is your return?  GZ may be passing through here sometime in the first half of September.

Yellowstone -

Had my first run in w/ the law here. I was passing over the double yellow line doing 75 in a 45 around a curve when I saw a ranger pointing a radar gun at me. I turned around and rode back to him to collect my prize. He gave a bunch of grief and then said he was getting off work soon and didn't feel like writing it up! Thanks ranger!

Smoked trout and a local micro-brew in Cooke City, MT -

I stopped here to wait for my friends in the bus because the Beartooth Pass closes at 8 and I didn't want to get too separated. After 2 hours I figured they must've gotten ahead of me and the pass was about to close so I went for it.

The guy was just closing the gate when I got there, had the whole mountain to myself!

These shots were taken at about 11,000 feet. Cold and lonely up there. It's 60 miles between towns.

Turns out they didn't get ahead of me, just laggin' hard. They had my camping gear so I got a hotel. The Alpine Hotel in Red Lodge, MT. $100 well spent. Super comfy rooms and home cooked breakfast in the morning. I had the Belgian waffle but they offered a bunch of stuff.

It sure would be sweet to do two legs of the rally. I'll look it up and try to connect if it's not too far.

That was fortunate.  Over-zealous speed enforcement in the park is one of the reasons I avoid the place these days.

He has been in Winnepeg for the last 11 days.  The word is he will be heading west to Saskatchewan this weekend.  What happens after that is unclear right now.

Excellent photos Matt!! What a great ride. How do you like the fairing? Much wind protection? Helmet buffeting? Is it the regular EMGO one? Looks good on your bike.

thanks

Emgo fairing is great. I saw a comment from twotired on here a while ago that these are worthless because the only time they really provide coverage is when you are laying on the tank. This is kind of true but I use a pretty big tank bag that I spend a lot of time laying down on so the position is actually quite comfortable. I spent a lot of time in the evenings when it was getting cold tucking into the bag to stay warm instead of layering up. I had the bike up over 115 on several occasions and it always felt rock steady. I didn't perceive any helmet buffeting caused by the fairing. I believe people feel this happens because the helmet is the only thing exposed. You definitely get tossed around in the wake of tractor trailers and when passing them, are their fairings that eliminate this?. I think this fairing is a great compromise between looks, weight, size, usefulness and price. It is, however, the only one I've ever used so I can't speak very knowledgeably on the subject. I would like to try a larger fairing like one of the CR style ones or the Vetter quicksilver but I think the full size "barn door" fairings are too much.

I have the same fairing on my F3 and I love it. I think you described it well. One other thing I've noticed with mine is that it catches a lot of bugs.

On "The Ride" I had an old Corbin/Gentry seat that ended up causing a LOT of pain by day 4. Now I have a new Corbin Gunfighter. It is the best seat in the whole world ever! About 4 or 5 days in I started to get a little bit of discomfort but it went away before the day was done. The beauty of the seat is the multiple positions it allows. I can comfortably use the front or rear pegs and can sit up or lay down on the tank bag. By moving around regularly and shifting positions you never stress one set of muscles for too long. I had very little discomfort the entire trip.
