I wholeheartedly agree, that front fender doesn't look quite right with 18" wheel. Lowering the fender can't be easy and I'm reluctant to mess with it cos it's a brand new one. However, I do have another hub. Perhaps the best or easier option is to lace it to a 19" rim and replace the 18" wheel.

I would not mess with a new OEM fender either Eric. I'm sure you'll come up with a great solution. ;)

I feel like the cb350f fender is a bolt on solution to the 18" rim. The 18" is so cool it'd be a shame to lose it. Could be wrong. It's been a while.

Thanks for the tip, presumably the CB400F fender is the same, which might be easier to find in England.

 I'm not up on CR750 rare parts but something has been on my mind lately.  Some years ago on ebay i came across a cam cover, alt cover, and a clutch cover all of which were made out of magnesium.  Is that the norm or were they just one off made parts?
         If they were actual CR750 parts, is there a demand for them ?

I ship scrap metal off to India for melting down, I get about €100 an tonne for it. Trouble with this magnesium rubbish is it's so light. Any more of these turn up for sale please let me know, but I could only offer about €2.50 for the whole set, fair price mind you.

I'm pretty sure I saw those on eBay when they came up for sale. They certainly looked period parts but that's a negative when it comes to magnesium. They looked in pretty bad shame, very black and corroded which will mean they'll be structurally weak and therefore dangerous to use potentially. Nice ornaments for sure but joking aside, they're probably not much real use to anyone....

 What about  " NEW "  parts in magnesium ?  I have a friend who has a shop that is next to another business that manufactures magnesium parts.  If the demand is great enough i thought i would take some covers to them to get a quote on producing the various cb750 covers .  What do ya guy's think ?  A waste of my time ?    ???

I think the ones on ebay were mine and they sold for a lot. They were in VG condition and came out of the Yoshimura East parts dig that I got  10-12 years ago. They were given to the dealer in Penn that sponsored Gary Fishers #110 yellow CR750 that Pops built for Krause Honda. Pops got them directly from RSC in Japan, as kits never had those offered only RC750 factory machines.

Now you know.

Still asking anyone's opinion....... do you think there is enough demand for Magnesium CB750 engine covers ?  Are there enough CR750'S or road racing cb750's ( CR750 copies )  to warrant fabrication  ?   ???  I'm going to check it out next week anyway to see the $$$$  factor.  I have a friend who has a machine shop in his garage so maybe i can keep the cost factor down some.  We will see...........   ::)

I think there might be quite a bit of interest until the price is known. Magnesium doesn't come cheap and not everyone who is lucky enough to have a machine shop will want to take it on as there is a potential fire hazard. If it does catch fire stand well back!
However, put me on the list of 'interested'.

Casting them would perhaps be more afordable, there would be to much waste if they were machined, like as and why one peice valves are more expensive.

 I'm pretty sure that the pieces will be cast and i'll have my friend do the finishing machine work.  At least that's the plan for now.
 It all depends on the overall start up cost.   ::)   Which is the problem with most desirable projects.    :(

While we're talking about magnesium parts, Eric, any updates on your 4 bolt fork lowers? Last I read you were getting blanks machined? Now that is cool.

The magnesium parts are still with the machinist. Unfortunately for me he has got himself a contract working away from home, so at the moment that little project is on hold. Oh bother or words to that effect! Meanwhile I met this guy (on the left) last Friday night.
