Subscribing because I don't have any personal experience, though members of my family have.

oh man, I go outside to file the castings off a triple tree and look at all this!!

I'm curious if anyone else 'feels' things... like premonitions, a certain degree of intuition, or ...?

My dad, my kids and myself have a strong window senses.

Dad
he always knew what was going to happen before it did, and I think I got that "great gift" (sarcastic face)  from him.
   nothing specific comes to mind.

Me
I can tell people that are close to me whats going to happen in the near future.
for example: I told my friend when she was going to have her baby and to be ready to go on the 10th cause her baby will be coming on that day.
Well, she didn't listen and I was right. so they had to get all the stuff together in a hurry.

Also I cannot be startled by people, because I feel their presence in the room, but for some reason I can't sense animals.

Danica
My daughter Danica, when she was 2 1/2, knew about the dog I shot and buried behind the house.
She came to me and said "dada, boom boom " and led me all the way over there (about an acre from the house) then she told me with a smile "doggie happy now" while pointing right to the place where the dog was buried 6 months earlier.
She had no knowledge of the event cause she was out with mommy at the store at the time.
the dog was 11 yrs old and very sick, my friends asked me to put her down. not my favorite memory.

Chloe
She just told me my dad was gonna get hit by a race car while walking in the street and go to the hospital, and be dead for 6 months.
My dad works at a machine shop that builds vintage race cars, so I immediately called him and he said he'll keep his eyes open.
everything I say is pure speculation and
I have no idea what I'm talking about  ._.

I lived in a rental house in north St. Pete. that breathed and had moving shadows.

My roommate had come home and talked to "me" on the couch while he was in the bathroom. but when I wouldn't answer him he came out to see I wasn't there anymore.
I was at work when he got home.

I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, and the towel on the shower rod picked up like someones head was under it and came toward me, when it got close, it swept off like a person pulling the towel off, and nothing was there.
I said OH... OK... and promptly left the bathroom. there were no draft sources from anywhere, and it was HEAD SHAPED.

My wife called me at the house one time and then called my cell yelling at me cause I was a dick to her on the phone, I was outside working on a dirt bike and hadn't heard the house phone ring... She said I was short and rude to her, like I had someone there I didn't want her to know about.

I can't remember any others at the time.

Back to the last post I had,
my ability to "see" things magnified, after I overdosed on some #$%* and died, when they got me back I was... well, I could describe it as "crazy", for 9 months. it was like I could see and hear things that people I didn't know were doing while I was alone.

great, there it is... now I look like a whack job ;D

I've been curious about the whole premonition thing for a while now, mostly because I get a lot of premonitions.  I think it's tied to empathy somehow.  Empathy being the ability to step outside yourself and see a situation from someone else's perspective, or feel what other people are feeling.  It is not to be confused with sympathy, which is worthless, but rather the ability to internalize the world around you.  I think there is something about empathetic people that enables them to be more sensitive or more aware of their physical and non-physical surroundings.

I also think people who have premonitions are generally more in tune with their instincts.  I always follow my gut, and am always paying attention to what my gut is telling me.  I think animals pay much more attention to the world around them than we do.  Why else do you hear stories of huge numbers of animals vacating an area before a natural disaster strikes?  They are somehow more in tune with the world around them.

I remember reading about a group of scientists doing research on emotional reasoning and instinctual reactions and what not, and they found that there are neurons in our hearts that are tied directly to our limbic system, the area of the brain that, among other things, controls emotion.  Reptiles lack this area, which is why snakes make bad pets because they have no emotional connection to you, and will try to kill you.  The other interesting thing they discovered is that the heart is the most powerful producer of electromagnetic energy in the body.  With each beat, it basically creates a shockwave of energy with a 10 foot radius.  It also picks up electromagnetic energy, so our bodies are communicating with each other if we are inside the circumference of that shockwave.  I'll try to find that study.  It was pretty interesting, and explained what was happening inside our bodies and brains at levels we aren't necessarily aware of.

EDIT:  Found the study.  It's long (okay really really long,) but interesting:

Pills, I tend to agree with that assessment of empathy.
Beyond that, I think a certain sensitivity to pheromonal inputs is probably a must, too, and I don't think people truly understand the kind of constant environmental input we get from pheromones every day, and moreso if we're surrounded by people all the time.

Kit, I don't wanna go into any stories of my own but to be completely honest I think I would find a way to have that name on my bike. Definitely not trying to be morbid or scary but just somehting I would feel better doing. Maybe paint it on the underside of the tank or something...But that is just me.

I see dead people.

But seriously though, I did have an experience once involving flashing lights in the sky bouncing to the horizon and back at an unbelievable rate of speed. That experience solidified my belief that we are not alone in this universe.

I feel that way too, but when things just come to you, like it naturally happened, that's possibly something else, I dunno I never "honed the craft''.

I mostly try to ignore it till the thing I "saw" happens and I'm like oh cool! I already saw that happen....neat!

I'd been PMing someone on the side and mentioned this, I think I'll bring it up here...

When just starting out riding, and scouring teh intrawebs for others' advice, I found a recurring theme in 'trust your gut'.  'Trust your intuition'.  'Trust your hunches'. 'trust your feelings'

often followed by a story about how a rider did something only because they just had a feeling like they should, and they were spared some sort of serious misfortune.

I guess the moral of this story is:
We all have a hobby that is inherently dangerous.  Self-preservation says we need all the help we can get. :D

ok
seriously I have had premonitions while riding that are validated by my continued existance via accident avoidance, BUT, I really believe this is due more to experience and common sense than some Other force out there.

I am a believer in a greater power out there, but also believe there is an uptick in 'paranormal' observations mainly due to a lessening  belief in God/Buddah/Yahwah/etc and organized religion. People need something to believe in, besides themselves and often latch onto any thing

If there were people w/ paranormal abilities/flying sausers/aliens etc, wouldn't the world be different.

All I 'm saying is, be weary of anyone claiming paranormal abilities, most of them are scam artists looking at your wallet. Most if not all of the obsevations my wife and her sister have 'seen' as proof of ghosts etc can be readily explained away by bad camera angles, dirty lenses etc etc.

Guess you could say I'm a skeptic.
peace,
michel

Walked into my shop about 10 days back, went to switch on my Sansui amps.

As I walk up I see the Vu meter needles moving around like its playing, so I think crap, I forgot to turn off the switch. Then I grab the switch and move it to ON, realizing that it had been OFF..

... and there was no sound coming out.. :o

I had just brought someone in there with me too(that had never been there before), sorta weird they had quite an interesting taste in records.. They spied my Hocus Pocus , by Focus record.. and we gave that a listen...

When I was in my mid 20's,  I lived in a communal house with 4 other guys. I came home one night from a late shift as a waiter at a North Van Restaurant.  I headed into the kitchen and then sat and watched some TV for a while.....1/2 hr?

2:00 am head upstairs to my room. Go to bed.  ......hear strange squeaking noises........quiet for 10 Min's..... then a bang!......10 Min's of quiet......then a scratching noise............then a walking sound.............10 Min's of quiet.......

This Frickin sh*t went on for an hour or so.  I would get out of bed look around and all would be quiet again for 5 Min's and it would start all over again.

I finally got up and turned every light on in the house, that's right.......I had my girl panties on. F*ck was I freaked out!

About 10 Min's later 2 of my room mates came bounding down the stairs....sh*t faced and laughing like they invented it.

They had crawled from Bills room...."across from mine on second floor" though an access door to the rest of the attic area over to the rear wall of my room.  They went up there at 1:00 am,  hid "drank" and waited there until 2:00 am when I went to bed, then started the best practical joke ever played on me ;D

I had something strange happen to me last night at around 1am.

I was heading to bed and the light attached to the stove flickered strangely, then about 6 feet infront of me, as I walked toward it, the bedroom door opened up.
I said (talking to the ghost, I guess) "neat. But I'm too tired to be amazed right now, thanks anyways"  then I went to bed.
