Well put Scott... My wife is actually great when it comes to bikes. She has let me completely tear down and rebuild a 09 Harley, 78 cb400, and my current 77 cb750f. She has also let me keep them all, lol.

On top of this I am always doing free work on my friends Harleys, which takes time away from the family. The GS1000 will be a super fun bike to ride and build.

So I finished up all the electrical work and installed a new blade fuse box.

I also started to instal my dynoman 836 pistons by myself but in my haste damaged one of my oil rails. Thats what I get for getting to impatient and rushing. New rings are on the way so I should be able to get the engine buttoned up by the end of the week.

Your attention to detail is commendable.

Really nice work.

Makes me think......maybe someday when all bugs are worked out....the 550 racer I built will get a full teardown and resto.

I love that when looking at build pics you almost don't need to look at the bikes, just the shop in the background. The people with the nicest, tidiest shops build the nicest, prettiest bikes! Of course, there are exceptions, but when somebody is serious enough to have a nicely laid out shop they're going to build a sweet bike! Again, it looks great!

Could we get some more info on what you did with the electricals? I'd like to rewire my CB550, and I'm trying to get some info. Love the new fuse box, where'd you get that from?

Holy crap, dude!

I just checked out your '78 hawk. SWEET!! My wife has one (and I love it, it is a great little bike). I have been looking around for another one to build into a nice little racer. Yours is just sick!! I LOVE it. I have never seen Comstars looks sexier.

Can't wait to see the F2 on the road.

Thanks the 400 is a blast to ride around town. I changed the gearing and it rips pretty good.

This is my first attempt to make a baffle. I took the stock Mac 4-1 cone baffle chopped off the second piece then welded the tubes together making a system which is more open. Next I drilled out the tube with multiple holes. I wanted to use the existing end cap so it will look stock (for a Mac 4-1) but wanted an improved sound. What do you guys think? Should I pinch down the most inside tip to get more back pressure? I also have the option to wrap in fiberglass to deaden the sound if it breaks my eardrums.

I think you're going to be fine. Wrap it tightly with some ceramic wool 4-stroke packing, and you're good to go.

Let us know how it sounds when you've finished.

I don't know about building baffles.. However once you get it together I would love to hear it if you can post a video of it..

I took the day off work to try and get the motor buttoned up. The new rings from JE pistons came in, since I F'd up an oil ring. These 4's are much more difficult than Harley's to get the pistons on the rods and in the cylinders, lol. All is done, next is putting on the CR's and exhaust. Hope to have this done by the end of the weekend.

Thank God for the Gordon frame kit...
