Got my lowering blocks off. Raised the rear a couple inches.
I spent a couple hours going over the bike and tinkering. Trying to understand it better. Becoming one with the bike. Looking at how things are put together and trying to understand how they can come off and be cleaned/repainted. I dont think it likes me very much, but hopefully I can learn to treat her right.
I would like to take the gauges and bracket they're mounted to off and try to clean them up. But I am not sure how the wires that go into the back of each gauge comes out. Not the screw on bit but the wires that are going inside them. I am nervous about trying to remove these without some sort of guidance, as I ride the bike every day now.
I also took the hand controls apart to see how they run through the bike. Not sure how I am supposed to get these out of the bars theyre in now when the time comes.

I spent some time on the phone with a friends dad who has rebuilt several of these bikes. I dont think he understands how little I understand in regard to the engine. But he suggests some of the noise I am hearing may not be clutch clatter, but might be related to a cam chain adjustment or points adjustment. egh, I cant remember what he said exactly, he may have been speaking french. Fortunately he has a shop in my hometown that and he said he can help me do the fork seals and steering bearings and to see if we can track down the sound problem.
Other things hopefully done over the break are installing a seat and LED lights, clubmans, removing rear fender, polishing as much as I can get my hands on, fabricating an ignition relocation bracket with idiot lights, and hopefully paint. Rattlecan job, cant afford the real deal.
I am getting closer to a paint scheme. I found a guy that can produce some pretty sick vinyl tentacles. I would have liked red more, maybe even green, but the jacket my girlfriend bought me has yellow in it. haha, my jacket doesnt match my helmet that doesnt match my tank that doesnt match my jacket.
anyway, still kicking around ideas. may switch to black and grey. or a wine and grey.
