As far as room in the swing arm its pretty spacious. Check out the pics.


 Rake pics i will get,  I included pic's of what i based the rake off of, my best guess was between a 35-38 degree rake. In reality this was about 1-2 inches of movement. Both bikes were somewhat inspirations for the build. The harley form WrenchMonkees ad the CB is from Garage Company.

Thanks, Yea sorry, i planned on the a making this a more proper build thread soon, more info and pics. As i mentioned just above the rake is about 38 degrees. I had panned on a 35, but i went a tad more aggressive on it since i knew i would be lowering it. And the outside diameter of the wheels with tires is about 27 1/2 inches.

Thanks Techno, forks are stock length. The upper fork tube on one was pretty pitted so i got a clean used one off of a 78. This ended up being a problem. After polishing the fork bottom i realized the bottom (sorry for lack of technical terms) was 1 inch longer than my 75. I then took it apart and used the upper fork tube from the 78 in the 75's lower part. Polished that and everything else worked out well with the swap. Personally i like the fork tubes sticking through the top triple clamp to some extent. I may in the future cut the tubes but for now its fine.


As for the tank, i dig the stock tank too. I want the bike to stand out but still pay homage to its roots. I may get knee cutouts in it when i get the seat. A local guy around here makes some pretty nice stuff. Kott Motorcycles is the name. I havent dealt with him yet but i like his work.http://kottmotorcycles.com/Kott_Motorcycles/Home.html

Got loaded gun rear sets from Dime City, ill let you guys know how they work out, polished up pretty quick



Also got new brake line from slingshot cycles for this weekend. Waiting on the rest from motion pro. Went with a black translucent color.

Yea if you cant tell from the pics the bike is actually pretty low. when i first raked it with the lowered rear, i went to pull out of the driveway and my exhaust prevented me from leaving. I leaned it sideways and made it but just going down my street the exhaust was scraping here and there. I Got rid of the Mac 4 into 1 and went with straight pipes that hug the bottom of the bike. But yea the 21's helped a little. Added with the new exhaust which actually sits next to the bottom of the frame, not under ive ended up with some pretty good ground clearance and still low like i wanted. Im not sure what stock ground clearance is (to the frame, not exhaust) but i will measure mine and put it up fro reference.

First of all I really like the looks of the rear end and am anxious to see the seat you choose.  That little fender looks good to me.  One thing stands out for me,  You have the high profile tires and exaggerated rake.  That does not seem to be the combination for a canyon carver.  The low rider look is cool and the inspiration bikes look great.

I'd like to see a close up of how you cut and reinforced the neck if you get a chance. Definitely like the look. good work.

Yea im trying to get the pics off my old phone, of the rake, before i painted it. If not i will just have to post ones that are cleaned up and painted. As far as reinforcing the bike i am confident with it holding through anything. The rake was done by starting a cut at the bottom just behind the neck. Cut up through about 85-90% of the frame. At this point a pipe is in the neck and i had made up a jig to keep the neck centered. pulled up on the pipe until i got the rake i wanted, since a section of frame is still attached you have to tug pretty hard on it and it stays in place. A pipe was welded in from the back of the neck to one point on the frame. I then boxed the inside of the frame where the cut was made, sides and bottom, essentially attaching the two pieces back together. Then i boxed the outside of the frame, sides and bottom over the cut. Sorry in my head i can visualize it not sure if that helped. I will get pics off my old phone or take new ones, but it will have been painted over.

Thanks Wedoo, yea its not a canyon carver. I had another modern bike that was canyon friendly but just lost interest. I just like to cruise around town, run errands, etc.  I think i have more of a harley rider mentality but not quite as bad because i ride on weekdays, hah jk. Havent had a chance to actually see what it can do but im confident that it will be aggressive enough for what i need. And yea those inspiration bikes are clean.

That seat isnt for the bike, going with a single seat with a fabbed tail section. I looked at the seat it says "Cheetah Engineering, Santa Anita, Ca" i dont have any other info other the seat besides it being for a harley, my dad has a bunch of harley parts around and he put it on the bike for a sec to see. And yea we actually got that tool box for free from an angry landlord lol.

So my bro and i worked on the bike this weekend and got the rearsets about 85% done. Need to work on brake side, making a plate for the linkage to attach to. Also need to do the linkage for both sides as i made the shift side a bit to long. heres a pic of what it looks like mocked up, im going to take some out of the linkage to get a better angle as shown in the second picture. Also i have a question below with a picture.




Question:
What do you guys who have rearsets do with the motor mount bolt where the stock footpegs were. There is about an inch gap on each side that is not threaded. Im guessing i thread it to the frame then cut off the excess? Spacers would be easy but not as clean IMO. thanks for the help.

I had mine shortened and threaded at a machine shop. It looks clean and was pretty cheap.

Very interesting build.............I especially caught the reference to a Salt Flats style...........I built a Triumph Cub for the Bonneville Salt Flats with 21-inch wheels...........I did not rake the frame but the swingarm is extended with an upward angle to keep the rear of the motor as low as possible.............I don't want to steal your great thread........just add a little inspiration...........and regarding handling........the big wheels make the bike roll very easy and its very smooth...........remember the speedway bikes had 23-inch wheels.
