Dennis ....... you noticed I'm a few days behind schedule!
Lake Gairdner speed week is from Sat 1st march until Friday 7th March , that gives me two full weekends and a few nights after work . I forgot what a thrash around going racing is like, cant believe no matter how organised one is it still ends up at 2am for a few nights before going racing ........how does that work, we are supposed to get wiser as we get older.
Dennis if I miss the cut I should send the bike over to you to manage a team with a pintsized midget to ride ( not your big lanky frame ) call it "Kangaroo sled".
Joe speaking of temperature thats one of the late reasons, its been hard in the shed with shed temp of 105 deg F to 120 deg F kind of slows things , been that way for about a month, wasnt in my planning.
Last year they had the meeting this time early Feb and on the Sunday it was 113 deg F and Monday was hotter around 115 deg F. two people were medivaced to hospital with total renal failure and nearly died from excessive sports drinks, lots of drivers and riders feinted at the start line and had to be iced up to recover , kept the doctors busy as they had approx 60 cases of heat related dramas.....so this year they delayed the meeting until march , first week of autumn... hopefully all is good as we get good weather in March warm days cool nights kind of stuff. the sea level is a real advantage compared to Bonny although some say the rarified air is easier to push through..........not me I havent done it before so learning.
To be honest 150 is a number to aim for as its the class record but it is also the speed of the works CR 750 hondas in the 70's and would be nice to match.
The only thing on my mind is it is 750cc and the torque is light on and I remeber on my stocky at 120mph flat out there was nothing left in the tank so really I would be happy with 140mph and Xtra is a bonus. Also the gearing is unknown for me and I am only taking a couple of sprockets 17,18, 43, 41 for this year and if I'm off the pace will just have to wait until next year ..............that dreaded learning proccess.
Oh if your ever crazy enough to come to OZ let me know I will help you with an itinery
Cheers johno
