I'd love a dividing head for my mill/drill so I could make gears/ sprockets etc, buy 5 litres of phosphoric acid and dump all that stuff in for a day, and it'll come out like new. You can buy phosphoric acid at your local farm supply store, and dilute it up to 10 parts water to 1 part phosphoric acid, and it'll still work great.

Phosphoric acid is food grade, and used in toothpaste, cola, chrome polish etc. Great stuff. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Mr. Mike, There's a vinyl sign shop near here that made me several cb400f decals. I seem to have used them all now but it was way cheaper than aftermarket copies. I'd bet there is one near you too.

Well Don, the vinyl decal shop would be happy to do a one off of both L/R decals, but it would run $75 at the minimum. KZ900.com wants the near the same as Vintage CB....$50 for a really good set. So, I’ll just hang in there. If I decide to go that route, I’ll probably pick up those aftermarket side covers on FleaBay and have them painted by someone who honestly knows how to paint, then try to afix the decal in the appropriate spot.
My cash cow neighbor came outta the woods and asked if I’d replace some rotten siding on his house. Sure thing! There’s the funding for covers and decals!. Oh-sorry Bear, you’ll have to wait just a tad longer for your fence project!

I'm too scared to look at mine Dave but all the "experts" say to just hang in there as it will come back. Problem is it might take years and I want to retire soon, so that pisses me off !

I'm lucky in one way, I've got a big lump of cash I was gonna dump into my super, but now I'll leave it in the bank until the super accounts start to come back, it's making absolutely no interest, but it's still there.......... ;D

Being among the 3 million unemployed due to the viral outbreak has been, not so much fun.

Feeling bad for those stuck in the cities and hot zones.  Saw pictures of my aunties naval hospital ship getting tugged past lady liberty.  Friends businesses are shuttered until further notice.  Then among the thousands hospitalized, one of the deceased was attached to the inner circle of friends.

The hours are turning to days, the days turning to weeks.  The anticipation of leaving the farm for distant lands is turning to anxieties around the reopening of this country.
Will we get our wits about us soon?  There is hope.  The crap ain't airborne.  Though some people act as though it were.
Contact with infected bodily fluids is the official route of transmission.  Surface spread is the chief concern in this instance.

Guess I'm not so pissed off, just a little depressed.

Well you're lucky you're out in the country mate, think of those poor buggers going stir crazy in cramped apartments in the cities! My 91 year old Ma lives in a little country town and so far there are no cases of corona virus there, so country folk are way better off than city slickers. What's the government there doing to help folks who've lost their jobs because of the virus closing down their places of employment?

Here casual/part time staff who've worked for the same company for a minimum of 12 months are entitled to $1500 per fortnight (which is good here, but due to the poor exchange rate, only worth about $800 USD) and unemployed folks who were unemployed before the sh1t hit the fan are entitled to twice the weekly welfare payment, no asset tests, no red tape.

I'm working from home, and only pissed off because the weather's so nice and I know it's gonna turn to poop by the weekend. Oh well, I have a medical appointment on the other side of the city today, so I think I'll ride the bike over, and I might come home the long way, to notch up another 100 miler for Frank's "20 rides in 2020" thread. Life could be a lot worse. ;D

Good thing your meemaw is far and away from the urban population.  I have friends in NYC and San Fran that are under city-wide lockdown.  Especially NYC with close to 60,000 confirmed cases.  Seattle is a mess among the top 6 most infected places.  Even where i'm at 3 dozen people are being treated and we can only anticipate more to be coming down with the virus

Our representatives in D.C. made a pretty concerted effort to leverage the FED bank for a couple trillion dollars in relief funding.  First bill to pass house got killed by the senate.  But in a dazzling display of bi-partisan cooperation managed to pass a counter-offer through to the oval office.
Long story short - a bunch of businesses and agencies are getting tens of millions, sometimes billions in federal financial assistance.  Student loans are getting forgiven, homeless coalitions and welfare groups are getting a boost.  And joe average gets a $1200 cheque.

I am a little pissed that im not eligible for the unemployment insurance on account of spending so much time taking care of my health and trying to attend school over the past two years.  "Didn't put the hours in".

Hours in the saddle notwithstanding.

Today got dropped on us that since the hospitals we service (medical supply chain) are hurting, they'll be taking pay cuts and looking for ways to cut hours and expenses... so since we are owned by the hospitals, we've been told we're likely to have to take pay cuts, and look for ways to cut staff, too... just because they are we have to "follow suit".

Then got a call from my wife, who's been making facemasks to donate, that her sewing machine suddenly locked up.  Spent all night tearing it down to find that the shaft on the shuttle race assembly is binding up.  But after taking the set screws out from all the shaft keepers, one of them won't free up.  Can't bang on it - it's midnight and everyone is sleeping.  Gotta get this thing fixed or my wife is going to lose her mind being cooped up with nothing to do.

Well, nothing as miserable as Dave's pissed-off-edness, but I was watching some old Simon and Garfunkel clips and realised that they'll both be 80 next year. As much as I've always loved Deep Purple, the Stones and AC-DC to stimulate my inner caveman, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Janis Ian, Jim Croce, John Denver and Carol King were the story tellers, and stimulated my imagination.

Up until my dad died at 89 (and due to Dementia, was just an empty shell for the last two years of his life) my oldest living relative was Dad's Auntie Nell, who died at age 80. I finally realised that I'm 60 when my "Seniors Card" arrived in the mail last week. Where the fcuk did my life go?

There's still good music being written today, but here's a reminder of just how good these two old farts were, and not all that long ago.......... ;D

I'm kicking arse and taking names Dave, I got my DVA (VA in the US) Gold Card this year too, and so when I got my $480 water bill, I applied for the "concession rate", and my revised bill was $40.80. I might have to start washing every day now! ;D

Well, the weather is good, little bit windy but that's ok. Bikes in the garage all ready to roll, not allowed to go for a ride, police are cruising around on the look out, bugger. bugger.  bugger. Have been to the shops but that doesn't cut the mustard.

So recreational motorcycle riding is banned Scunny? That sucks! We're still allowed to here in Victoria, as long as we're only riding in two's, and we maintain the social distancing thing whenever we stop, go to a shop, eat something etc. ;D

I got told today that the upholders of law and revenue raising are now stopping riders to check their intentions and that they'll be out big time at Easter checking campers, dirt bikes and anyone else classed as enjoying themselves in the middle of nowhere
They don't seem to be doing much about the rubber undies squad ( push bike riders ) that are still invading this neck if the woods every day now
It just used to be bad on weekends but they seem to be excercising their democratic right to get in my fcuking way every day
i blame Terry

Well I believe that I can still go for a ride, and lets face it, the cops aren't gonna pull up everyone driving a car, considering there are about 500 cars for every bike here anyway, so it won't stop me from going for a ride. I presume that there aren't clouds of covid-19 that you can ride thru and catch it, so fcuk 'em, I'll keep riding until they tell me I can't. (and then I will anyway) ;D

what pisses me off is having to ask the guys on my team to travel across the country.  My team works on lab equipment which specifically tests for corona virus....and we are 2nd level support so anytime there is an urgent need we have to go.  Half the team are high risk so we're doing our best to keep them home.

Just had to send 2 of my folks to a major virus hot zone for a urgent install at a hospital.  Makes me sick to my stomach when I have to start asking folks to travel right now  :-\

Anyway, it's good that there are good folks like you and your team out there in these scary times, good job!

Finish it Scunny, you can't sell it without some possible CV victim coming over to your place to kick the tyres and cough in your face. You've got all the time in the world to finish it now, so don't give up, get it done! And post some pics, or start a build thread, or better still, do both. The good thing about starting a build thread is that the comments from the guys here (both positive and not so positive) really help you along the path to finishing what you started. It's certainly worked for me. ;D

Just consider all those folks having to deal with the public in supermarket and other places deemed essential and them not knowing if the seemingly healthy person in line next who is breathing towards them is silently infecting them! It is taking a toll on many in those jobs and they are fearful.

It is a pretty messed up virus and seems that there are probably 2 strains going around with one that just makes you ill and the other makes you deathly ill...with good chance of killing you if you have any health issues. High Blood pressure, sleep apnea are two risk factors most wouldn't consider but millions of Americans have these two...

We are all going to be dealing with this virus for a long time to come. Stay safe and healthy.

David- back in the desert SW!
