One of the things I loved about living in Brisbane is that summer temps don't get hot like they do here Mick, we go from 10 degrees C like we did last Friday, to 47 deg C like we had on Black Saturday, whereas when I lived in Brissie, the temps were much more constant, somewhere in the middle. Motorcycle Heaven on Earth.
When scientists told us that our computers wouldn't work post 1999 due to "Y2K", (remember that?) All major countries military (Oz included) replaced every single computer in their inventory at a cost of billions of dollars of taxpayers money.
As far as threats go, the underlying military principle is to plan for the worst case scenario and hope that it doesn't come to that. As you've mentioned, "scientists" are often caught out providing technical support to generous organisations, I wonder how much money Apple and Microsoft etc paid the "Y2K" scientists?
I'm not saying that man hasn't contributed to changes in weather patterns, my grandfather who fought in WW1, told me about how the massive artillery barrages in France changed the regular weather patterns, and I saw a program on Foxtel recently where they use "Hail Cannons" in the US to fire up into the clouds to seed them etc.
What I am saying is that some scientists (and their groupies like Bob Brown and his single agenda political party) are discounting any suggestion that constant climate change may well be a natural phenomena. Cheers, Terry.
