"Interceptor" as far as I've seen in vehicles was initially leo usage.
From:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/

Definition of INTERCEPTOR
: one that intercepts; specifically : a light high-speed fast-climbing fighter plane or missile designed for defense against raiding bombers or missiles

First Known Use of INTERCEPTOR
1598

From: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=Interceptor
interceptor Look up interceptor at Dictionary.com
1590s, from L. interceptor, agent noun from intercipere (see intercept). As a type of fast fighter aircraft, from 1930.

From Wiki:
The first dedicated interceptor squadrons were formed up during World War I in order to defend against attacks by Zeppelins, and later against early fixed-wing long-range bombers.

Yes I avoided the airplanes since were talking ground, and I suppose getting as anal as possible you could call airplanes vehicles. Also have been trying to avoid war, that's working out wonderfully as well.

AFA LEO vehicles go....Chevy Caprice and Ford Crown Victoria were the standard bread and butter Police Interceptor variants used for many years in the USA across the nation. Some security firms and small police stations used the Chevy Malibu in its more recent iteration.
But, the Dodge Challenger? Charger? 4 door is becoming the std for replacing the aging Crown Vics if they don't move to Suburbans/Tahoes like the AZ Highway Patrol...

Jimmy's bike is a nod to the Honda Interceptor paint schemes of red/white/blue...

Top looks good but where's the money shots of the nice large valves and porting work Mike bestowed upon your lump?

You can spray it Jim, at work, we use high solid epoxy paints every week , roll, brush and spray.... ;)

How do you thin it out for spraying?

With normal old thinners that you would use with any 2 pac paint.... ;)  Actually GP thinners will do also. I have seen Toluene, Xylene and most types of thinner used.... ;)   I wouldn't specifically go out of my way to use the POR thinner, its just a thinner like all the rest but more expensive.... And here's a tip for cleaning up, as long as the epoxy hasn't properly set and if you get any on your skin just use methylated spirits for clean up, i see too many people washing down with thinners and acetone, metho will do the same thing and is a hell of a lot safer.... ;)

I have been considering using an airbrush for my engine top end. I have a Badger airbrush and it work great for small bits. Just wondering if it would work with the POR-15 stuff

Sweet!!  Nice looking work and she will give your riding partners more fun to keep up with with you smiling ear to ear.  Your ful face helmet may feel tighter across the checks.

Would polished top cover look better?

Hope FunJimmy's Lab continues to have good fortune.

Jimmy, if you have a spare, I have time as a job doesn't seem to be in the cards for me.  Might keep me out of trouble and give me some motivation to do something.
Haven't done a top cover...so, I don't know how it would turn out. But, being detail oriented it would be looking good when I'm done. I work cheap.
Polishing isn't hard, just time consuming. Lots of sanding involved to have good results, it is good I don't mind sanding.

Been trying to sell stuff on feebay and must have screwed up the listings on shipping as it was quoting very low prices...when I specified calculated based on location. This isn't going to be fun. Not a lot of stuff I listed last weekend sold in the 5 day auctions.
(Some plastic models I had collected in the 90s, can't afford to store them...)

I have never had issues with throwing up during century+ rides, but I frequently have problems with major leg cramps, like a bunch of little knives stuck into my calves and upper legs. Have a safe ride!
