Benelli has come in. This will take some work to mount but I like it. Thanks to Camelman for it.

I am not sure how it should be mounted... flush with the frame or at an angle. Im not sure if one can tell the difference in the pics....

Where are the mounting points on the tank Tews?  Can you snap a couple pics?  I'd like to see if it's different than what I have on my turbo bike.

Thx

I was going to PM you and ask if you could snap a few pics for me. There are no mounting brackets. It will have to be completely fabbed up. I placed the tank on it for picture purpose...

I'll look for the pics I have, but I think most of them are in that turbo thread.

hey Greggo

I went threw the turbo build again and didn't see any pics on the mounting.
From the looks I may mount a tab on the upper frame to bolt on the front of the tank.

rear will be the same.

OK, on the spine of the frame a section is ground down, and a bolt hole was drilled and tapped.  That goes down through a hole in the tank, just forward of the gas cap that clamps it down.  There's also a spring latch at the back of the tank that attaches to a tab on the frame.  I don't have pics of the back latch.

Ahh I swear I saw that pic.. I must have missed the bolt. That's what I am going to do..... Thanks!

Hey you ever think of going with a mono shock?

I have been looking and have found the vfr500's and the vfr750s use mono shocks... Now I just need someone who has one to measure it for me...

Thanks for the help Greggo!

sweet tank -

Could you lower the front of it to match the angle of the rear of the frame or the angle of the seat pan.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I always thought it would be cool to build a bike with one of those tanks.  I like it when the bottom of the tank is parallel to the ground and in line with the seat.

I'm leaving that bike as it is.  I'm probably selling it this year once I get to ride it a few times.

Well its fer'sale. 8 ]

I would not recommend using the VFR swing arm; it's much longer then the stock one which would really stretch out the wheel base and muck up the handling.

My seat will be angled somewhat..... I will post pics once I am able to have my buddy weld my hoop on... I need to clean the frame up as well......

Godffrey I will be giving you a call soon. Hopefully you can teach me how to put the 650 cam in.... If possible please PM me!

I think that the original cafe racers had the straight tank and seat line didn't they?. I have seen some that the tank angles and the seat does also to make a V in the middle and it just doesn't look right IMHO.

Come on Godffrey, that can't be right...it doesn't credit Carpy's dad for his inventing the Cafe Racer. Next you are going to tell us Al Gore didn't invent the internet.

(Sorry, couldn't resist...haven't looked at the link...just figured it was truthful and not propaganda...)

If you want to research the organ of Cafe Racers, it started back in England around the 50's
Here is a quick Google search:
 https://www.google.com/search?q=the+original+cafe+racers&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=DAHhUcOFLNGN4gTItIHACg&ved=0CDIQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=657#tbm=isch&sa=1&q=cafe+racers+london&oq=cafe+racers+lon&gs_l=img.1.0.0i24.59773.60636.4.63609.3.3.0.0.0.0.248.703.2-3.3.0.cqrwrth..0.0.0..1.1.17.img.GbudrYMmeyA&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.48705608,d.bGE&fp=c821d0902ec1d9cb&biw=1024&bih=657&imgdii=_

A lot of them have that line. Another thing in those picture is looking like the tank sits on the seat. Personally I like when the ass end is up like this. I also read that when the back is higher the handling is better in the turns.
